Commencement and Baccalaureate at Carthage Public Schools
The Carthage Public schools hold the forty second commencement on May 22 in the public auditorium with speaker Dr Roscoe Gilmore Stott. Sixteen graduates are listed, led by Marion Henley and Rubigail Henley, as the class motto "Build for Character, not for Fame" is adopted with Cerise and Silver colors. The Baccalaureate is on May 16 with Rev J I Meyer delivering the sermon at the same auditorium.

The bride, a senior, will live with her parents in this place and the groom, a traveling salesman for Pittman Moore Drug Co Indianapolis, plans to go to California after school ends.

First Community Sale At Planing Mill Draws Crowd
Everett C Button of Knightstown outlined the plan in a talk at the old planing mill near the public square. Charles Cross of Greenfield introduced his sons Glen and Evan and Ray Moore. Hogs horses cattle harness scales paint and other items were sold during the afternoon as the building was lit and floor covered with sawdust. The second sale is set for Friday April 23 at 12 30 p m with country and town residents invited to list goods.

Jesse Siler, 73, died suddenly at his home Thursday morning while preparing breakfast. He had been in poor health for four years and homebound since November. Earlham Madrigal Club Hosts Earlham College Guests
The Earlham Madrigal Club entertained the Madrigal Club of Earlham College Friday night at the Auditorium under the Foreign Missionary Society of the Friends Church. Twenty nine young ladies arrived by motor bus and were luncheon guests at the Missionary Society church. The program featured chorus solos and pieces with piano violin and cello. Eleanor Henley of this place is a member and president of the club.
