Civil War Narrative in Vermilion Volunteer's Second Issue
A facsimile of The Volunteer dated Nov 7 1868 recounts the 16th Ind Regt with Henry B Hill as Quartermaster. Elwood Hill captained 41 men from Carthage. two survivors Will T Hill and Will Walker. The 61st Regt from Ripley under Capt Cox faced raids from Maryland to Louisiana with bold river actions and railroad destruction.
