The Carthage Lions Club announces the annual talent show will be held Friday night April 27. Aspiring participants should contact committee members Jack Tweedy Lewis Lafuse and Hubert Hunt.
Mr and Mrs Noah Leisure returned home Tuesday after spending three and a half months in Florida They visited friends for a week in Ft Pierce and a week in Ft Lauderdale during their stay in St Petersburg
Jo Ann Lacey daughter of Mr and Mrs David Lacey of Greenfield died suddenly Wednesday at Hancock Memorial Hospital. She was the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Martin Roberts of R R 2.
Ralph Truitt of Carthage was named by county commissioners Monday to replace Odell Pitts on the county alcoholic beverage board after Pitts resigned.
The Carthage Band Booster Organization will hold a called meeting on Monday April 9 at 7 30 in the School Band Room.
Funeral services are held today at Little Blue Friends Church for Joseph T. Linville 82 who died Tuesday at Rush Memorial Hospital. Surviving: one daughter Mrs. Robert Macy of Arlington, one granddaughter and one grandson. Carmony Funeral Home in charge with burial at Arlington Cemetery.

Tuesday noon session led by Lloyd Manuel discussed March minutes and treasurer Clyde Ruby's report. Easter drawing announced with three hams and three picnic hams to be awarded Saturday April 21. A committee of Bob Winters Bob McKain and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes was named to plan future projects.
Mrs. Tony Riley of Carthage was admitted to Rush Memorial Hospital last Thursday. Mrs. Joanna Gibson was released from Rush Memorial Hospital on Monday. Mrs. Myrl Mann shows improvement at Rush Memorial Hospital. McDaniel convalesces at his Carthage home while Mrs. Rue McDaniel improves at Rush Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Catherine Weaver has been seriously ill at her Carthage home for the past week.
Carthage High School reports on local regulations from a century ago for teachers, band trip details to Rushville with class C contest entrants and judges, a postponed junior class play Rebel Without A Cause, and open-house plans by the P T O.
The Charlottesville and Ripley WCTU meets Friday April 13 at 10 30 a.m. at Ethel P White home. Members bring an item for morning discussion and a basket dinner is served at noon. Ruth Wilkinson of Hagerstown will speak at 1 30 p.m. All are welcome.
Mr and Mrs Beven Conoway quietly observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their Carthage R R 2 home on Tuesday April 3. They received many gifts flowers and cards from friends and relatives. Guests included Frank Guyatt Dublin Mrs Pearl Kennedy and the Hopkins and Brosius families from Knightstown. Other relatives joined for dinners and visits over the weekend.

Public Service Company of Indiana filed with the Indiana Public Service Commission a petition seeking approval of a proposed schedule of rates rules and regulations for electric energy sold to Rural Electric Membership Corporations for resale. The company argues prompt action is in the public REMCs and its own interest, noting potential savings of over 242000 if 1961 rates had been in effect. The filing accompanies an answer in Cause No 29162 requesting consolidation or other action to achieve final reasonable rates terms and conditions for REMC service.
Indiana State Highway Commission announces under the 1961 Eminent Domain Act amendment the state is no longer liable for interest on money paid into court in condemnation actions. Attorney General Steers says defendants may withdraw court appraisers awards without waiving exceptions and pursue final trial. interest no longer applies from the act's effective date July 6 1961.
Five hundred Rush County 4H members and adults were honored at the 16th annual Achievement Program at Rushville High School. Special award recipient Clarence Dyer of Center Township was saluted for contributions to agriculture 4H work and community activities.
Lafayette Indiana Amy Sue Addison daughter of Franklin and Mrs Addison of Carthage has been pledged to Alpha Lambda Delta at Purdue University. Eligibility requires a 5.5 or higher index in the first semester or a 5.5 cumulative in two semesters. Addison is a freshman in Home Economics and active in Home Economics Club Intercollegiate 4H Purdue Concert Band and the World Wide Review troop.
Eastern Star officers announce a practice meeting Monday April 9 at 7 30 p.m. in the Masonic Hall. The notice invites officers to attend and prepare for upcoming duties.

Mrs Lindley Taylor entertained nine members of the Friendly Circle at her home Tuesday night with Mrs Norman Edwards as president in charge. Mrs Louis Humes read the secretary report and devotionals were given by Mrs Howard Winslow. After the business meeting Mrs Edwards gave the lesson and delicious refreshments were served.
