Man Arrested In Freelandville Arson Case

William Hamke 45 a Freelandville resident was arrested for arson after confessing to fire setting at his brother in law Ed Mengedote's barn. The fire caused about 600 dollars in losses with two hogs killed. Hamke pleaded not guilty at Knox Circuit Court and bond was set at 1000 dollars. Continuation noted on page 4.

Influenza Ban Lifted In Carlisle Area

The influenza ban is lifted as Carlisle and surroundings return to normal. Stores may open late or early, masks are no longer required in public, churches lodges and schools reopen. Schools will start again Monday December 28 with continued caution urged by Dr. C. E. Whipps.

A movement to stage a large Fourth of July celebration and barbecue in Carlisle next July 4 in honor of Sullivan county Soldier and Sailor Boys. Initiated by Frank B.
