Hansen spoke at Springs High School commencement urging seniors to value learning and pride and to pursue a life of purpose. He warned against disrespect for law and described those who undermine America as tearing the country apart with damaging attitudes.
Springs Man Nasity Watts has been chosen president of the Alpha Chapter Epsilon Sigma fraternity at the College of Business. His selection cites leadership, knowledge, and popularity. He also works at KIDO Radio as a night desk host. He is married to Mrs Elis Watts and holds a BS.
A report by Idaho extension specialist Wayne Sols shows farmers used about 147 thousand tons of commercial fertilizers in 1967, up from 135.7 thousand in 1966. Dry forms made up 65 percent of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium products, with liquids at 35 percent. total registered tonnage rose due to greater nitrogen use and needs for soil analysis.
In Salt Lake City on May twenty second Mrs Archie Vonberg Jone Jorgensen and her guests visited Mr Rett Reeves Ray and their son Mer TE AL Ogden and their family. They returned home Saturday.
Mrs Evan Adams reports her son Barry has been promoted to captain in the Army on Apr 18. He serves as a helicopter pilot with the 1st Air Cavalry Division at Camp Evans near Hue, Vietnam, involved in Operation Delaware at An Khe Valley on the Lontion border. No word has been received since an attack on Camp Evans a week ago.
The Soda Springs Presbyterian Church starts a two week Vacation Church School on June 3, running weekdays from 9 to 11 30 a m through June 14. Children ages 4 through completion of sixth grade may attend with a $1 registration fee for materials. Bible study crafts and worship focus on God's Creation.
The 1968 District 5 PTA Conference convened on May 25 at Alameda Junior High School Potatello with the theme PTA in Motion. Attendees from Soda Springs included Frank Mendes and Russell Hoffman. Soda Springs will host the 1969 PTA Conference.
Eighty one Utah State University students will graduate magna cum laude and cum laude at the 75th annual commencement in Nelson Fieldhouse on June 8. Seniors with 3.80 GPA or higher earn magna cum laude. those 3.50 to 3.79 earn cum laude. Kathleen Torgesen of Soda Springs is among the cum laude graduates.
Second Grade pupils of Mrs. M. Frank Stoddard visited the Grace post office City Library and First National Bank on Tuesday May 20. At the bank Susan Lloyd and Tommy Bassett bought two 25 dollar bonds each while Traci Thomas Susan Miles and Mrs. Lloyd bought one 25 dollar bond each.
Thomas Lau 27 son of Heber and Rhea Lau died in a highway accident north of Council Idaho at Godfrey's Corner when his car plunged over a cliff and onto railroad tracks. Three passengers also died and another injured. Lau a pharmacist at Council born May 16 1941 Soda Springs. Survivors include his parents two brothers and funeral services were held Tuesday at the Soda Springs Idaho LDS Stake Center.
The North Gem High School awards banquet honored graduating seniors with a turkey dinner served by freshmen. Ferris L. Call earned a full year’s tuition to Ricks College as valedictorian, Terrell Smith a semester to ISU as salutatorian, and Danny Mabey an athletic scholarship to Boise State College. The event featured musical performances, Thespian awards, and retirements remarks for longtime drama teacher Eunice Gunnell.
At the April 17 meeting of Re Sada Springs City Council officials tentatively set July 30 for a bond election to fund bringing Formation Spring water into the system by a pipeline. Hamilton and Voeller were retained as the engineering firm for the project.

Iiana Bolton, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Bolton, traveled to the Los Angeles area on Tuesday to visit her aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Merlin Bolton of Reseda.
Sented freshman certificates of award Glenn Schenk and sopomore Darrell Hunt received certificates while juniors earned certificates and music honors. In music outstanding awards went to R. E. B. Faulkner Virgina Lester Michael Jenkins LaRae Maughan Joslyn Hogan Lafe Holbrook George Millward Patricia Jenkins and R. B. Faulkner. Outstanding in vocal were Nancy Mabey Melanie Hogan and Jan Barfuss. Mr. Waite was presented an engraved pen and pencil set by the student body.
Dr Francis Huber of the Smithsonian Paleobotany division visited Bear River Valley for a rock and hobby show on May 18 and 19. He examined Paul Tipton's fern specimens near Kemmerer Wyoming, identifying one as a Cyatho-Dendron type possibly dating back millions of years, with expert remarks suggesting a potential new North American occurrence.
Harold Victor Romero of Soda Springs receives a Master of Science in physics at the University of Missouri Rolla commencement. A total of 725 degrees were awarded on May 26 including 551 BS 160 MS and 12 PhD degrees to graduates across fields and programs.
Floyd Rollins Grace has been named to membership in the American Milking Shorthorn Society, announced by secretary Harry Clampitt.

Mr and Mrs Theron Davids announce their son Duard Davids has been selected for the 1968 edition of Community Leaders of America. Davids, Byron Wyoming football coach, is honored for community service and notable activities.
