Taxpayers urged to rethink income tax withholding
Syndicated columnist Sylvia Porter warns Idaho readers that withholding income taxes acts as an interest free loan to the U S Treasury, costing savers potential earnings and reducing take home pay. The piece contrasts withholding with saving or investing and notes shifting tax responsibility to individuals. A separate anecdote imagines a minister awakening to a robber seeking his money.
