Local Man Receives Ford Gold Medallion Service Award

Jerry W. Stoor, service manager of Shuler Brothers Ford in Soda Springs, will be honored with Ford Paris and Ford Cumomer Service divisions top award. The Gold Medallion plaque recognizes parts and service managers nationwide who previously earned Silver or Bronze the prior year. He will receive the plaque and pin at a Special Medallion Awards banquet.

Breakin Reported At Thirkill School

Thirkill Elementary School in Soda Springs reported a break-in Monday after 7:30 p m. Seven south side windows were broken four desks and chairs overturned in rooms two and four. Drawers opened and contents strewn. Art and writing supplies were stolen. Police chief says those responsible will be dealt with. Supplies were recovered and parents cooperative.

Areas Considered for Wilderness in Caribou Forest Idaho

Supervisors from Boise Caribou Challis Payette Salmon Targhee and Sawtooth forests review 24 tentative wilderness study areas totaling about 1.2 million acres. Areas range from full multiple use to backcountry or scenic historic designs with several sites including Bear Creek West Slope Tetons Webber Peaks and Mink Creek Gibson Jack. Soda Springs Snow Drifters Win Two Successful Farming Plaques

The Soda Springs Snow Drifters receive two plaques from Successful Farming for heroism and public service last snowmobiling season. Awards recognize delivering medicine during blizzards, search and rescue, mail delivery, trail cleanup, and community programs. President Milt Blatter accepted the honors in Soda Springs. Successful Farming editor Fred Stines lauded the club and other recipients for positive snowmobile values.

Tragic Accident Claims Life Of H S Graduate

Funeral services were held for Barry Lynn Steffensen an 18 year old Soda Springs graduate of Soda High School May 29 at the Idaho LDS Stake Center Soda Springs. He was a Thespian Club member and Idaho State scholarship recipient. Surviving parents Tony Steffensen and a sister Paes all of Soda Springs along with grandparents and great grandparents. Allen Funeral Home directed burial at Fairview Cemetery.
