Local Tot Injured in Soda Springs Truck Crash

A four year old boy, a resident of Soda Springs, is recovering at County Hospital after a crash involving a scumtruck. The incident happened Sunday evening near Pastat Sunda. Police identify the driver as Mick Sluse but no charges are reported.

Utah Power Seeks 10 Percent Idaho Rate Increase

Utah Power and Light asks the Idaho Public Utilities Commission for about a 10 percent rise in Idaho electric rates. President Kem Naughton says the first request in 11 years would lift the average domestic bill by roughly 30 cents daily for Southeastern Idaho customers. He seeks an early hearing and cites expanded facilities since 1945 and anticipated further growth requiring new securities in open markets.

Crop Dusting Pilot Injured In Crash

Crop dusting pilot Richard Kennett was injured when his plane struck a power line while spraying for Wilson Farm Service of Bancroft. He was airlifted from Caribou County Hospital to a Pocatello hospital. investigators Herb Walters and Jack Porter led the inquiry.

Caribou County Hospital Auxiliary formed with twelve members meeting May 3 to elect officers and establish by laws. The group will include representatives from each county community to support hospital needs and patient comfort. Next meeting July 11 at the Soda Springs hospital.

Grace Woman Dies in Salt Lake Hospital obituary

Betty Lou Bodily died Tuesday in a Salt Lake City hospital after a long illness. She was born September 27, 1942, in Smithfield Utah, daughter of Clarence and Fontella Ashbaker. Soda Springs to vote on pay as you go plan

Soda Springs School District voters go to polls Tuesday June 11 at Soda Springs High School and Grays Lake Elementary to decide a 10 mill pay as you go levy for five years funding a six classroom elementary addition and a five classroom junior high project. The plan funds new classrooms and athletic facilities but not salaries or operations. Voters must be real property owners and approval needs a two thirds majority.

Obituary: Elda Van Vleet Dies at 70 in Grace Utah

Funeral services for Elda Burton Van Vleet 70 of Grace were held Monday at the Bannock Stake Tabernacle. She died Friday night in Logan after a two week illness. Survivors include her husband John Van Vleet of Grace, children Fred Osra Don and Loyal, daughters Melba and Ruth, five brothers and three sisters, and many grandchildren. Burial followed in Grace Cemetery under Allen Funeral Home.
