Mary Daviy Cox 33 of Smoot Wyoming died hours after a two-vehicle collision 11.4 miles west of Soda Springs. Injured were her husband Marvin Cox and two sons ages 5 and 244 months and nephew Norman Griffin 4, plus driver John Lloyd 17 and his brother Von 13. Sheriff Ralph Marriott investigated the fatal outing.
Thomas D Hayes of Box 22 Soda Springs received a doctor of medicine degree at Tulane University's graduation exercises in New Orleans. The degree was awarded by Tulane president Dr. Herbert E Longenecker.
Gary Williams, formerly of Grace, received the LL B degree from Samford University. He joined the Standards Committee and made the Dean's List during law studies. He works with Judge Ross Jones in the Superior Court in Phoenix, Arizona.
The schedule lists games from June 8 to July 18 featuring Simplot, Keller & Stoddard Ern's, and Lakeview Motors. Notable pairings include Simplot vs Keller & Stoddard Ern's on June 8 and June 13, with all games at 5 p.m. on the south or east diamonds.
Joel W. Davids and Russell A. Hebdon won three year terms on District No. 149 school board. Davids beat Thomas G. Hatch 103 to 15 in Trustee District No. 1 while Hebdon defeated Floyd J. Banks 15 to 10 in Trustee District No. 8.
First Lieutenant Larry R. Dursteler of Soda Springs Idaho earned the Air Force Commendation Medal at James Connally AFB Texas for meritorious service as budget officer. He is a Preston High School and Utah State University graduate, Sigma Nu and Alpha Kappa Psi member, commissioned in 1964 after Officer Training School. His wife Tamra is from Hyde Park Utah.
The Summer Recreation Schedule lists activities daily from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. for Girls Tennis and 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. for Boys Tennis. Other slots include volleyball archery horseshoes golf pitching machines and various league games with specific days.
The Quarterly Bannock Stake Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints will meet Saturday and Sunday June 11 and 12 in Grace. Elder W Henry Chace and Mrs Hazel Love will represent the church with Chace in charge of the Genealogical Society Information Service and Love on the Relief Society General Board. Mr and Mrs John Montgomery and their son Loris spent Saturday night with C E McBride and family in Arco. They then traveled to Burley on Sunday and were hosted by Mrs Mirtha Merrill for Memorial Day.

Chinook salmon runs are ahead of schedule with strong migration upstream to Sunbea Dam and Pistol Creek area by early week.
Two ore trucks collided on the Monsanto private haul road Thursday night. Fay Millward of Bancroft drove the empty truck returning to the mine. Clyde Gillespie of Soda Springs drove the loaded truck with about 75 tons en route to the dump. Both drivers were seriously injured but recovering. Millward at Caribou County Hospital and Gillespie moved to Pocatello General.
The Caribou County Sun reports 90 new subscribers and a record total of 1900 as the Self-Help Subscription campaign ends May 21. The paper notes bicycles and other items purchased with over $600 in campaign commissions, and thanks readers and workers, inviting corrections for missed deliveries.
