Officials end Idaho Conference weekend meetings

The Idaho Conference closes after two sessions held in Bancroft with local leaders. Elder M Jengen and Elder Delmar H present the Sun day program. Istensen, Utah State Chemist and School Board member, serves on the advisory board. Deseret Sunday Oral Board member Milton Kilson, music faculty at Ogden College, attends. Stake President Dredge of Soda Springs presides. Visitors welcome. meetings continue Saturday and Sunday.

Horsemen Clinic Saturday in Preston Idaho

The third annual University of Idaho Horsemen's Clinic takes place Saturday May 28 1966 at 9 30 am in the Cache Valley Livestock Auction Preston Idaho. Speakers Reed Beebe Major George Henderson discuss foot care conformation and training with demonstrations on corrective shoeing bridle handling and horse conditioning. Ed Duren invites horsemen and 4 H members to attend and participate in the sixth annual clinic. Reading contest starts Friday at Soda Springs Public Library with prizes including transistor radio camera and paint sets.

Fire Destroys Old Grace Building

A pre-dawn blaze last Thursday levelled a 58 year old downtown Grace structure adjacent to the Grace Theatre on Main Street. The unoccupied two story building stored cafe equipment and other items. nearby water damage occurred to the theatre and some storefronts. Fire Chief Harold Spencer and volunteers fought the flames. The Youngs of Soda Springs owned the building, erected in 1911 and once home to a bank and Mountain States Telephone offices. Cause undisclosed.

Local Girl Wins Music Scholarship

ISU Alumni Bulletin reports Dr. Ezra Monroe named administrative manager of Research Information Services at Dow Chemical in Midland Michigan. Raised in Soda Springs, he has papers and patents in pharmaceutical chemistry. Ann Warner, Soda Springs High School student, wins a music scholarship to Midwest Music and Art Camp at University of Kansas June 19 to July 31.

Mrs. Robert Bruce, former Soda Springs resident, was elected president of the Idaho Falls Welcome Wagon Newcomers Club and was introduced at a spring fashion show and luncheon at the Flamingo last week. The Bruce family moved to Idaho Falls in March of last year.

Time Is Now For Solemn Remembrance Poppy Day

Poppy Days will be observed in Soda Springs on May 27 and 26 honoring America’s war dead. Mrs. John Wallace, chairman, notes the day supports hospitalized veterans and widows, with funds aiding children and war-related hospital needs. The event recalls Normandy, Korea, Vietnam, and other battles as a pledge to never forget.

Be Organized Typing Class May Offer Evening Sessions

An organizational meeting for a summer typing class at the high school is planned for Friday May 27 at 10:00 am. Grace Cheese Co sold to Ed Gossner and Ed Gossner Jr of Smithfield Utah as Glen Palmer retires for health reasons. Palmer will stay until conversion complete. Ed Gossner Sr of Switzerland has led cheese plants in Wisconsin California and was longtime general manager of Cache Valley Cheese and Milk Co. No personnel changes planned. Sheldon Kendall remains manager. New owners plan a storage curing and packaging plant in Logan to supply Grace products under Dairy Distributors Inc.
