Lowe Drug in Grace was robbed Thursday night of $80. A shattered front door caused the loss and interfered with locking the store until a new one could be installed. The same night a similar break-in occurred at a nearby location with drugs taken.
Aliens in the United States will be required to report addresses to the attorney general within the near future. By January 31 most aliens resident as of January 1 must file. Exemptions apply to Accredited Diplomats and certain international organizational representatives.
Roy Fisher of Soda Springs Mrs Al Cynova also of Soda Springs and Mrs Sid Thompson of Henry were top winners in the final Money Tree Christmas drawing in Soda Springs. Fisher took the grand prize a color television. Awards ranged from cash to merchandise with many local businesses supporting the event.
At the Cattlemen's Convention in Coeur d'Alene Mrs. Lovina Somsen of Mount Caribou CowBelles was chosen for the Idaho State CowBelle Association Board. A Star Valley native, she has taught in Star Valley and Blackfoot schools, co authored a Star Valley book, and is writing another on living philosophy.
The Presbyterian Church invites everyone to a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 8 o clock. The service is family friendly and includes a chance to contribute to a special mission offering. The Reverend and Mrs David L Crawford hosted a Christmas open house Sunday afternoon.
The Bureau of Land Management has closed 2 520 acres in eastern county near Afton Wyoming to snowmobiling until further notice due to disturbances to wintering deer and elk. Joint counts show 360 to 600 deer and 140 to 250 elk rely on the area December through winter. disturbance can fatally weaken them. BLM officials vow patrols and possible prosecutions for violators while urging use of the Lander Cut Off Snowmobile Trail.
Christmas events at St Marys Catholic Church include Masses on December 24 25 26 and January 2 with confessions December 23 and a potluck dinner December 28. Sister Dorinne will lead carols and Bingo games accompany catechism lessons. A Christmas Mass 24 at 1 pm in Montpelier and other specials noted.
Grace Business Men and Womens organization held a Christmas drawing. Shirley Kopetsky Diane Hansen and Janice Chastensen won five dollar certificates, Farrell Smith won ten dollars. Children enjoyed a free show and Santa Claus gave candy and nuts, with Lions sharing half the cost. Floyd Banks of fiins distributed the treats with Neal Sanders and Doug Campbell assisting. Santa arrived on the fire wagon.
Caribou County residents can obtain Phase II details of Nixon’s Economic Stabilization Program from the ASCS Office. The county office provides on site answers for simple wage price questions and forwards complex items to the IRS. Address is 61 East 1st South. hours 8 am to 5 pm. phone 547-3227.
Three judges from Oklahoma Soda Springs and Lago presided over the Christmas decoration contest. Prizes awarded: Howard Johnson first $25 Orrin Harris second $15 Carl Rasmussen Jr third plus two Grace City $10 prizes Merrill Lloyd for beauty and Delwyn Hanks for Santa Claus mechanism. The finale on Thursday December 23 features a $50 pot and Neal Sanders as announcer. Officers listed include Nelher Johnson president Ivan Bortz secretary and directors Fred VanVleet Kenneth Roberts Irene Harns. The next meeting will elect new officers and announce Business Man of the Year led by Don Peterson.
