Ranger Roy Daniels says trees suitable for Christmas use are valuable as future sawtimber and watershed protection. North Gem youth basketball opened with losses to American Falls Beavers 41 37 and 44 29. Perkins led North Gem with 19 points in the first game and Gordon Yost netted seven in the Cowboys second setback at American Falls.
Malad Dragons used a strong bench and balanced guard scoring to beat Grace 66 50 led by Terrill Marrs and David Anderson. Cokeville, 45 Grace 41, trailed by 13 entering the fourth but rallied near the end. Rasmussen led Grace with 11. Grace hosts Raft River Friday then travels to North Rich Saturday.

The Carter project by Peter Kiewit Sons’ Company covers 8.09 miles from state line to Pegram road junction with a four percent grade and minimal curves. Senator Frank Church of Idaho learned from the Agriculture Department that about 50 000 tons of barley may move from West Coast ports to South Korea after an unrestricted renewal of the prior shipment authorization. The department plans monthly white wheat shipments and notes a 292 000 ton tally to date, with Japan seeking three cargoes of red wheat from West Coast ports.
David J. Lau of Albany Oregon managing officer State Savings and Loan Association was awarded the MAI designation by the Governing Council of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers at its annual meeting in Los Angeles on November 9 1964 The designation grants him institute membership and places him among fewer than 3700 qualified appraisers since 1932 Lau a Soda Springs Idaho native served in Korea and has worked as a regional appraiser for Prudential in Salem Oregon He has led the Oregon Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers as president and participates in community roles with Linn County Cancer Crusade the Albany Kiwanis Club and the local chapter.

North Gem faces declining enrollment while Grace votes indicate preference for two-way consolidation with North Gem. The Southeastern Idaho Chapter of the Intermountain Electrical Association met Saturday evening at the Hacienda in Montpelier. Elections approved Conrad Sanders as president with Sherwood Koford as vice president and a board including Ken Regnier Dewey Anderson Argil Davids E L Corky Wilson and Dick Perkins. A special Christmas program and ladies night were planned with musical numbers by the Montpelier Quartet Phil Hulme Dr Paul Davies Roy Larson and Harold Bunn.
