Contracts for Ban sewer project awarded to Edwin M. and Sons Soda Springs for land, P and E Concrete Falls for lift station and collection. HK Sons began lagoon work August 5, aiming to finish by early September with good weather. Fairbanks Pipeline Co of Twin Falls to dig trenches through P&E Concrete with permits, while bonds ensure cooperation to keep children away from trenches and equipment.
Judge Francis J. Ras sentenced a detainee tied to a string of car thefts to Idaho State Penitentiary. The defendant, previously paroled from a federal diary in Atlanta, faced charges stemming from a July car theft spree and associated offenses.
A Bancroft woman identified as daughter of Mr N Call traveled with 125 peers to Palmyra for the York Pageant. The group visited historic LDS Church sites including Palmyra and Carthage, with many attendees viewing the annual event and the traveler continuing with duties at home.
The Grace Branch store of Soda Springs Auto Parts was entered between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Owner Clark Carlson of Soda Springs says $400 to $500 in tools and equipment were stolen. Paul Wilkinson of Grace spotted the break in from his auto repair shop behind the building. Thieves forced an entrance to the repair shop, then entered the store through a service window. Stolen items include several blue Walker hydraulic jacks, five of which were boxed and lacked handles, plus various New Britain hand tools believed taken to complete a set.

The Soda Springs High School seminary schedule lists periods and classes. MR Cran er teaches Book of Mormon in Sem. I with Old Testament in Sem. II. MR Redford covers Sem. I Book of Mormon in Fourth Period and Sem. II Old Testament in Fifth Period.
North Gem High School yearbook staff announces distribution Friday August 23 at 8 30 p m in the gymnasium for students and staff.
Soda Springs School District No. 150 outlines 1968 69 bus routes with three unchanged lines Meadowville Conda and Conda Trail Canyon. Bailey Creek and Wood Canyon routes modified to include extra pickups and rail crossing safety checks. Alexander route adds Cedar View entrance and canal bridge pickup with priority for elementary riders. Names of drivers and stops listed. board seeks cooperation from community.
North Gem Supt Clark Gardner announces school begins August 26 with registration on August 22 for juniors and seniors and August 23 for freshmen and sophomores from 7 to 9 PM. First graders must have a physical. fees include high school 13 dollars plus various activity and instrument rentals.
Steve Wallace Nessen pleaded guilty before Judge Francis J. Rasmussen in Paris to a felony tied to the Montpelier drug store burglary. William D. Olson was appointed as attorney and a pre sentence investigation was ordered into Nessen s background.
Soda Springs city officials announce formation of a local improvement district for curb and gutter work. Residents elsewhere who wish to form districts can contact City Hall or Councilman Max Hughes for information.
The administration urges parents to keep bus loading areas clear to ensure safe movement. Pupils cross near buses and loading zones raise danger. Parents are asked to keep city children home until 8 40 am and avoid sending riders to rural routes for events to prevent overload.
Public hearings for North Gem 149 and Soda Springs 150 drew attendees in Bancroft and Soda Springs as districts plan a two way consolidation for zones representing five areas. Trustees to be elected by zone with a July 1 1969 effective date and enrollment projections around 841 students for high and 244 for the combined junior high and senior high.
J Emerson Mabey chairman of the county ASC Committee announces barley will be included in the 1969 Feed Grain Program. The move reflects a tightened barley supply with August forecasts at 425 million bushels, 20 million above July 1 and 55 million above 1967.
Lysle C Barthlome 21, son of Mr and Mrs Lysle P Barthlome Grace, earned the silver wings of an Army aviator and was appointed a warrant officer July 16 after completing 16 weeks at the Army Aviation School Ft Rucker. He logged 210 hours of actual flying time and studied instrument flying flight planning maintenance tactical maneuvers and survival techniques.
Army Sergeant Lentry W. Matte, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ophey Matte of Crowley Louisiana, was assigned July 17 as a communications center operator in the 1st Air Cavalry Division at Camp Evans Vietnam. his wife Marcia resides at the Trail Motel Soda Springs.
Idaho Fish and Game announces opening of dove season from September 1 to 22 with daily bag limit of 10 and possession limit of 20 after day one. Hours run from half an hour before sunrise to sunset, varying by region. No federal duck stamp required for doves, but standard migratory bird regulations apply.
Stan Kress will serve as principal of the Soda Springs Junior High School for the current year and work part time as director of testing services. He has taught US Government and psychology, studied at Ricks College BYU and ISU, and arrived in Soda Springs in 1967 as guidance director. He and his wife Caroline live at 111 No 3rd East with three children Marcia Dawn Robert and David.
