News from Garey High notes the Blue Devil Band unveiled a new flag at the Mt. Gilead Garey game. The Band Mothers Club funded the royal blue flag saving about $50 and supplied eight marching lights, a head majorette busby, and four instruments totaling around 500 dollars.
A substantial amount of wood remains from the newly cleared school playground after trees were cut down. Interested parties should contact the superintendent of schools for details.
A Carey stadium crowd watched the Mt Gilead game last Friday night as the Carey Blue Devils marching band with plume headgear delivered a stirring pre game salute and half time show. The excitement built as the band performed the alma mater and the Blue Devil Victory March lighting up the field amid a night of football and sports atmosphere.
The Luther League of Christ Lutheran Church Carey hosts a potluck supper next Sunday October 3 at 6 p m. High school age boys and girls are invited to bring a covered dish and table service. Committee members in charge are Jean Allen chair George Schwemley Elsie Hill Charles W Koons Willard Boyce and Elizabeth Romig. Rev Wade H Koons pastor will conduct devotional service.
A revival begins September 28 at the Church of God located at 877 Frederick Street. Rev Corliss Dyer of Carruthers will lead daily services at 7 00 p m each evening with all invited to attend.
The Philathea Ladies' Bible class of Memorial E A B Sunday school will meet at the home of Mrs Harry Stoll on West Findlay Street on Tuesday October 5.
Carey Chapter No 159 R A M to hold stated convocation Friday evening October 1 at 7130. L L Bland H P directs notice for members and attendees.
The Methodist church observes Rally Day on October 3 at 9 30 a m with a five part visual education series on the Life of Saint Paul. The series runs for five Sundays starting October 3 with titles On the Road to Damascus The Way of Salvation Faith Triumphan t Crown of Righteousness and Grace for Forgiveness. Everyone is urged to attend the first session. Church School Superintendent.
National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week is observed October 3 through 9. The Upper Sandusky Ohio State Employment Service office coordinates placement efforts for physically handicapped workers and urges Wyandot county residents to contact the office for work applications and to determine the available labor pool.
Mrs. Mary Stroup and daughter Elizabeth of Carey and Miss Mary Krebs of Upper Sandusky left last Thursday for Cuba Missouri where they joined Mr. and Mrs. Max Stringfellow of Findlay who had spent the past year in Seca Arizona and were on their way home. They all arrived in Carey Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Stringfellow remained until Tuesday then went to Cleveland to visit their son in law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. James Bruchlacher. They will spend the winter in Ohio.
Mr and Mrs Harold Landoll moved from the Truman Young house on W South Street to a new home they bought from Mr and Mrs John Walters on W South Street Mrs Marion Russell of Crawford moved into the Truman Young property left vacant by the Landolls and Mr and Mrs Walters have moved to a new residence one mile west of Carey on Route 15
Sharon Kay Puchta, three weeks old and daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Puchta of Frederick Street, underwent a lower stomach operation at Findlay Hospital last Monday morning. The parents thank Joe Garn for a blood donation aiding their daughter.
A one story building 20 by 22 feet in A 1 shape is available in Carey Ohio. Sealed bids must reach the Moose secretary by Tuesday October 5 1948 at 4 p m and be at least two thirds of the $450 appraisal value. Bids will be opened at that time.
Gary Miller, a T year old son of Mr and Mrs Leroy Miller living six miles south of Carey, underwent an appendectomy at Mercy Hospital Tiffin last Thursday evening. He was returned home Tuesday evening and is recovering nicely.
Mr and Mrs James Briggs of 321 Grove Street will mark their 66th wedding anniversary on Sunday October 10 in a family gathering. The couple have lived at their Grove Street home for decades and will celebrate with relatives and friends.
Galt dining room and restaurant will open Sunday under new management with a Sunday special offered.
The Carey Lions club stages Pun for You a home talent show at the Carey School auditorium on Thursday September 30 and Friday October 1 with a matinee for grade school children today. Cast includes Mrs William Cole Joe Kelley role players and a quiz kid panel. A Grand Old Opry barn dance and glamour acts feature, plus prizes for best hats and a fundraiser for the ceiling projector project.
A sizable group of Kiwanians met Monday evening September 27 for a work session at the shelter site and Huston s sawmill. They prepared timbers for the structure and may begin framing Thursday afternoon. A dinner meeting is set for next Monday at 6 15 at Gibbins restaurant with top attendance requested.
Donald R. Fauble a Springfield Lutheran Seminary senior will assist Rev Wade H Koons pastor of Christ Lutheran Church at Holy Communion next Sunday. He has served as assistant pastor at Christ Church during Holy Week and will stay at the Lutheran parsonage Friday night through the weekend as guest.
Band Mothers' group will convene at the high school Monday evening October 4 to elect officers. All members urged to attend. Lunch to be provided by listed chairmen and members including Mrs. FDB Rows, Mrs. George Newhard, Mrs. Wesley Wonder, Mrs. C. Wenner, Mrs. Clarelikce Tucker, Mrs. Jesse Bland, Mrs. Lester Steele, and Mrs. Nelson McLarkey.

Mr and Mrs George Bentz of 440 Frederick Street will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Sunday October 3 with their son and daughter in law, Albert Bentz, among the family guests.
Firemen responded Sunday night to a blaze at the corner of Patterson and Frederick streets. A spark from a chimney burned a small hole in the wooden shingles. no injuries reported as fire damage remained confined to the roof.

Wyandot County records its 14th polio case, Ellen Atkins, a 16 year old Carey High School student, hospitalized in Columbus after illness onset September 18. Nearby Upper Sandusky tally rises to eight. Mervin Kauffman, 10, of Brayton Street, was tested with a negative spinal verdict.
Charles Ziebarth son of Mr and Mrs J E Ziebarth of W Findlay street spends several months in Europe. He traveled to Luxembourg City for a United World Federalists national meeting and may visit uncle Henry Nilsson in Oslo, Sweden if possible.
The Women’s Benefit Association will hold a social meeting and potluck Friday at 8 PM. The event takes place at the home of Mrs Frank Troiano on Ewhidlay Street.

Carey Blue Devils defeated Mt Gilead 35 to 14 on Friday night in a Mid State League game. Nye, Platt, Berardinelli and Klingle led Carey with multiple scoring plays and strong blocking as the defense shut down Mt Gilead. Approximately 1600 fans witnessed the win.
The Brotherhood of Christ Lutheran Church meets tonight at 8 in the parish hall. Pastor Dr Wayne Kantner of First Lutheran Church Tiffin will speak with motion pictures from synodical and church conventions. Dr H R Wenner presides. refreshments follow. committee members include Earl Burson and Howard Snyder.
