Local Baseball Star Thomas Griffith Returns From New Bedford
Thomas Griffith and his wife arrived from New Bedford Massachusetts where he played for the New Bedford team and the New England League. He led the league in wins twenty and losses six and won a nineteen inning game. His team claimed the league championship. He is visiting C. H. Hull and family and will stay a week or more before spending winter in Lafayette Indiana.

The county fair drew a record crowd on Thursday with excellent exhibits and strong attendance. Weather held up until a Friday rain storm slightly marred the proceedings, while Hon. C. C. Anderson spoke to Civil War veterans and was praised as a friend of the soldiers.

California visitor and relatives recall old daguerreotype
Benjamin Southward of Three Rivers California visited his nephew Dr J D Southward this week. His father James Southward of Wharton also joined the trip. Forty three years ago the three posed for a daguerreotype, and on Monday they sat for a new photograph at Montague's studio.

Funeral for Dr Lewis Cook Held in Forest

Rats and Peaches at Water Works Orchard
A peach tree at the Water Works and Electric Light plant yielded about 25 peaches this season before fruit began to vanish. Residents caught two rats in the tree eating the peach flesh from the pits, leaving the pits still hanging on the branches.

Cattle Shipment Brings 54 Steers to Local Farm
Saturday night Henry Coppler and Byron Ogg received two cattle shipments from Chicago totaling fifty four steers. They were moved to Mr Ogge's farm southwest of town, rented by Coppler. Cattle sold at five cents per pound amid good pasture conditions boosting the investment.
