Last Monday morning Miss Jua niita McComb delighted two large groups of pupils in the auditorium with chalk talks clay modelling and bird imitations. She particularly pleased younger pupils from Col Crawford West and Our Lady of Consolation schools.

Liquid Air Demonstration at Lima Lyceum

John Sloan, a Duke-educated Lyceum entertainer, will present a liquid air demonstration in the school auditorium Friday morning October 13. The show uses a material far below freezing with potential military explosive risks. Admission is 15 cents for adults and 5 cents for students.

New Student joins Carey High as Mt Gilead edges 6 0

David Weiser, son of Rev W W Weiser new Methodist minister, joins Carey High after transferring from Johnstown high. In the football opener Carey defeated Mt Gilead 6 to 0, with Heck returning a punt for the only score and a late drive halted by a clipping call. Pieracini Michaels and Heck starred in a 75 yard third quarter play nullified by penalty.

Announcement reports the marriage of Dr Kathleen Imbody daughter of Mr and Mrs Perry Imbody Richwood to Theodore G Roszmann son of Mrs Idas Roszmann Columbus. The ceremony was Sept 2 at a Lexington Kentucky Methodist church officiated by Rev H G Wittiker. The bride trained at Richwood High 1925 and National College of Chiropractic Chicago now with the state welfare dept Marysville. Roszmann an electrical engineer from Harding High Marion and Chicago University, with Jaeger Manufacturing Columbus. The bride is also known as Mrs I G McDaniel in Carey.

Carey Knights of Columbus Hold Second September Meeting

The Carey Knights of Columbus held their second September meeting Tuesday night. Reports outlined plans for the upcoming October 15 banquet by program chairman C. R. Lonsway. District Deputy Tom Dowd of Kenton spoke and invited a first degree initiation at Kenton on October 8, joined by Brother A M Brown.

Grandmother and Grandchild Burn Victims in Separate Fires

Mrs William Sloman was hospitalized after burns on her feet from spilled grape butter at a Findlay home. Her granddaughter Gloria Lupton, four, suffered burns from hot water while visiting relatives in Tippecanoe City.

Wharton Man Noted Eligible for State Patrol

Halle Turnbell of Wharton has received a notice of eligibility from the Ohio state civil service commission for state highway patrolman after passing the civil service examination in Columbus. July 28 marks the first such examination held since 1936.

Carey native Theodore Coppler dies in Indianapolis street accident

Theodore Coppler 22 from Carey Ohio died after being struck by a car driven by Mr Mueller of Danville Indiana as he stepped from a curb near his home in Indianapolis. He was en route home from a grocery when killed. He was married to Florence Da Prata and survived by wife parents and eight siblings. Burial in St Marys cemetery followed Requiem High Mass.

Kemerley Seriously Injured in City Street Crash

W A Kemerley, 75, was struck by a 1936 Oldsmobile coupe driven by Louis Troiano 19 in front of the Wigwam. He suffered a head cut and broken leg, was knocked to the pavement, and taken by Bristoll’s ambulance to Findlay hospital.

Shrine broadcast to feature Rev Paul Vollrath Sunday

The Very Reverend Paul Vollrath will deliver the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation address on WSPD Toledo Sunday October 1 at 4 30 p m This final program ends the current Shrine broadcasts until May 1940 The seminary choir will sing Adoro Te Devote and Ave Maris Stella There is no special pilgrimage that day due to the broadcast.

Mrs W T Stombaugh Returns Home After Hospital Appendectomy

Mrs W T Stombaugh was brought home Wednesday evening from Findlay hospital in the Bristoll ambulance after an emergency appendectomy performed 18 days ago due to a ruptured appendix. Her husband retrieved her and she is reported to be getting along nicely while staying with her parents on W Findlay Street.
