The Carey school band performed pre game field maneuvers and halftime shows at Mt Gilead Carey football game. They formed letters and heart shapes, presented choral pieces, and debuted The Blue Devil Victory March before marching to Columbus Grove for the next game.
Carey public schools report exceptionally high attendance for the past month with districtwide rates well over 98 percent. First grade in West building had perfect attendance. one room in Col Crawford building showed only three days absent all year, reflecting strong health and parental cooperation. G A Hartman superintendent.
D J Frazier of Findlay Street buys two barkless basenjis from Belgian Congo origin. The dogs yodel or chortle, not bark. Flown from Boston to Ohio in seven hours. Wallace Larsen of Cleveland handles them. Frazier shows them at Ravenna Lorain Sandusky Akron and other venues earning awards. One dog nine months old the other four months. Male weighs 25 pounds and stands seventeen finches tall.
Joe Garn son of Mr and Mrs Carey Garn enlisted in the Marines on September 13 He passed his physical at Cleveland and received a telegram Friday evening The recruit left Cleveland at 8 15 that night for Parris Island S C where training will begin He is a sophomore at Carey High School and has enlisted for two years

The Victory class of the Methodist Sunday school will meet on Wednesday evening October 2 at the homes of Mrs Gladys Mitchell Mrs Chesebrough of Carey and Mire lls Wonder of Findlay with Mrs Craker in charge of the devotionals and arrangements.

The Wyandot county WCTU convention will be held at the Methodist church in Nevada on Friday September 27. The first session opens at 10 30am with Mrs C 5B Thomas of Marion as guest speaker. A potluck dinner will follow at moon.

Rev F B Herbert D D returned from Champaign Illinois where he led Grace Lutheran Church through its 35th anniversary. He served from 1913 to 1965 and helped build the church from a mission to a strong campus congregation with a growing membership and student program.
The opening night September 12 featured eight teams. Selberling led with a 5170 series across three games, Tanner 529 and 234 high single, while Heck's beat National Lime and Stone 3 games. G. Walborn topped the winners with 610 and 234, Swan Rubber swept Municipal 3 games, and Carey Theater beat Municipal with Beebe at 516 series.
Mrs Francis Richards and Mrs J H Jacoby were rushed from near Carey to Findlay hospital after appendectomies performed September 14. Both were driven in the Bristol ambulance and underwent operations the same night, with Mrs Jacoby on the table first and Mrs Richards following about two hours later. Both procedures were successful.
The Philathea class of Memorial Evangelical Sunday school will meet Tuesday evening October 1 with Mrs Warren Luzader of S Muncie Street.

The school cafeteria will open Monday September 30 with cooks Mrs Glenn Swindler Nina Kennerley and manager Bessie Harper. Despite meat shortages the meal will be balanced. Parents are urged to ensure children eat full lunches to prevent waste and promote health. Home economics girls canned 1100 quarts and are sewing 72 feed sacks into dish towels for the cafeteria.
Mr and Mrs Harry Mapes attended the Rexall druggists regional convention in French Lick Indiana representing Ohio Indiana Michigan West Virginia and Kentucky regions. Justin W Dart president of United Rexall Drug Company predicted a strong business outlook as wartime restrictions ease and pharmacists gain access to more products. Indiana Rexall Club officers hosted the event led by L J Gooke Goodland and other officers John Sievers Valparaiso C E H Blumer Kendallville and R L Loser Noblesville with Walter E Joly Knightstown as secretary treasurer.

Mrs George Eppley of five miles south of Carey on Route 699 underwent a major operation at Mercy hospital in Tiffin Friday morning. She is getting along nicely.
