Findlay School News Highlights Return of Teacher and Football Plans

Miss Weaver returns to 7th grade after illness and the school cheers for the football team set to play North Baltimore Friday. Mrs Ray Koehler visits the school and fans recall her decade teaching music in Carey. Findlay Civic Music Association kicks off its annual membership drive for a concert series at Findlay High School auditorium with memberships from 2 50 to 5.00 and no single concert tickets sold.

Girl Reserves Hold September Meeting and Plan Initiations

The second meeting of the Girl Reserves was called to order by president Arcine Gottfried. Fourteen members attended. Plans for initiating juniors were discussed with a candlelight ceremony set for October 21 during chapel. A wiener roast for new members is planned for October 7 at Roadside Park. Newly elected officers include Donna Lou Wonder as president Frank Heck as vice president Martha Ann Spensler as secretary Betty Hill as treasurer and Mary Ann Joseph as student council member.

Grade 6 Class Dramatizes Joyland and Rich Cargoes Readings

Remlinger Couple Celebrates 50 Years Of Marriage

Mr and Mrs Remlinger marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a votive mass at Our Lady of Consolation Church officiated by Rev Joseph Herp. Bowling League Meeting At Sportsman Alleys

Open House At Goff Funeral Home Draws Large Crowd

Nearly 700 people visited the Goff funeral home over the weekend for an open house to view remodeling of the home once owned by Mrs. Kurtz. Mr. and Mrs. Parl C. Goff thanked the public for its warm reception and floral gifts and invited those who could not attend to visit at any time.

Three Hortas Fostoria Machines Collide

At the S Poplar and Hammer road junction near Fostoria three people were injured in a two car crash. Harold Turner of Fostoria and Herbert Schubert collided. Schubert's wife Elsie Criger Schubert was treated for a deep forehead cut and other injuries.

Raymond Stewart At Point Of Death

Raymond Stewart lies critically injured from an automobile accident last Sunday and is hospitalized at Memorial hospital Fremont. Dr Neil of Flower hospital Toledo examined him and held hope for recovery until Wednesday afternoon. Alex Stewart was summoned Wednesday evening as his son remained near death. his mother stayed with him throughout the hospitalization.

Operation at Columbus and Haferd Family Hospitalized

Mrs Ralph Haferd east of Ca was taken to Mt Carmel hospital Columbus last Thursday evening for an appendectomy after arrival. He was accompanied by his father and Dr B A Maloney of Upper Sandusky. Mr Haferd stayed until Saturday and Mrs Haferd visited Sunday with her son David, an 8th grade pupil at Our Lady of Consolation School. David is 13 years old.

Carey man injured in Lima auto crash with semi driver not located

Rex Donelson of Carey is seriously hurt in a Tuesday night collision on Lima’s east avenue when a semi crowded his car into a high tension pole. The truck fled. highway patrol searches for the driver. Donelson works with the A. C. and Y. bridge crew based in Delphos.

Father and Son Night at Kiwanis Highlighted by Scout Camp Films

The September 23, 1940 Kiwanis meeting drew a large turnout from ages four to older fathers. Zack Montgomery sponsored an engaging program focusing on Boy Scout work with two reels showing the 35,900 acre Scout camp in northern Arizona. Carey Defeats Mt. Gilead 12-0 in Home Opener

Carey earned its first home win by routing Mt. Gilead 12-0. Key plays featured a 25 yard pass to Nye for the opening score and Strahm's 30 yard interception return for a second TD. penalties favored Mt. Gilead but Carey cleared the game with six first downs to one. Next Friday Carey travels to Baltimore to face the Orioles.
