First Colt Show Proves Success at Wyandot County Fair
The Wyandot county fair held its first colt show drawing over 600 spectators. Judges from Ohio State University awarded two trophies and numerous prizes to entries including full blood Percheron and Belgian classes. Winners hailed from Carey Jenera Marion and nearby areas with more awards for grade horse colts.

Miss Alice Kinsinger remains bed fast at her S Patterson street home with back and hip injuries from an automobile crash near the Savidge farm south of Carey. Miss Anna Kellogg and Ralph Humphreys were in the car driven by Humphreys. Kellogg suffered a scalp wound and Humphreys a severed thumb artery. The vehicle caught fire but was checked before serious damage.

Plans for fall and winter activities include a court of honor on October 24 and December 5. The Carey District Boy Scout committee met in American Legion rooms with C. G. Knoblock presiding. Mrs Myrtle Perkins of Carey and her son Dr H C Perkins of Findlay with R D Perkins attended the funeral of their aunt Mrs Elizabeth Miller at Dunkirk. Mrs Miller, a sister of the late W A Perkins, was past 90. Seven trout and five pike were caught on a fishing trip to Coldwater Michigan by Ralph Williams and Ralph Kurtz with spouses. they left Carey Sunday morning and returned Tuesday night.

Carey boys represented the department with an educational booth and farm shop display at the county fair. They earned three firsts from six possible, with vocational livestock judging led by William Mitten Harold and Alfred Yost and others. 4-H results included a $6 float prize and multiple place finishes in lambs colts and club events. Total F F A and 4-H prizes ranged from $60 to $65. a potato show is planned in Upper Sandusky October 56 with prizes and a potential softball tournament.
