Marion Bland and Miss Helen Campbell were married in Upper Sandusky last Thursday in a single ring ceremony performed by Rev. Co. C. Kennedy. The groom is son of Mrs and Mrs George Bland of east of Carey and the bride daughter of Mr and Mrs Ed Campbell Sr of this city. They will reside here.
Yellowstone National Park spans 3,312 square miles with high mountain ranges three major rivers and their tributaries 26 lakes and 25 waterfalls.
A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Dow of the north side on Sunday.
Mrs. Caleb Dietelbach is in a critical condition at her home in the southeast part of town. George Huff remains very ill at his home on East Main Street. Mrs. J. D. Larmouth and Mrs. Harvey Brobst of Findlay visited Wednesday, called by his illness.
Five youths traveling from Upper Sandusky were in a serious crash when a southbound car allegedly crossed into their lane on a bridge near the infirmary. Karl Fleck suffered head cuts, Roger Lindsay dislocated his right shoulder, John Newhard had leg cuts, and Edward Gunther and Harlow Van Buren were uninjured. Driver of the other car fled. P. J. Miller and Arthur Stoll found and aided the group shortly after.
Mrs Wm Wiles of Cleveland reported her father s Ford coupe stolen after leaving it parked downtown while she and Mr Wiles attended a show. The car, uninsured, is a total loss after about a year in use. Mr Kurtz was called to Cleveland on Sunday.
Rev. I. H. Amore returned from the United Evangelical conference in Baltimore to find a break in at the parsonage garage and four rear tires stolen from his Ford car. The vehicle showed signs of use while he was away.
The Oak Grove Church of the Brethren hosted a large homecoming with about 500 attendees. Rev J W Norris led the preaching service after a big Sunday school session, followed by a picnic and a homecoming program.
Charles Weiner and Wanda Gault wed in Monroe Michigan. David Massett and Izetta Imler obtain a marriage license. Wyandot fair records 12 000 attendees with strong Pig and Food club entries. Several marriages, deaths, and legal notices recounted amid storm damage and community events.
Carey Public Schools opened Monday with a crowded high school due to enrollment. The old building hosts classes until the new one is ready, and a new high school teacher was elected. A full list of new teachers is given along with detailed enrollment by grade and gender totaling 319 pupils.
William James, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. McGown, died shortly after birth. The family held a brief service with Rev. Martin, then the body was taken to Broadway Union County for burial beside a late brother. The group accompanying the remains included Wilma and Olive McGown, Mrs. J. M. Burns, Wm. B. Mitchell, Frank McGown, Rev. W. F. Martin, and undertaker C. F. Sutter.
On Sunday afternoon the Carey Tires host the Sycamore Legion for the final game of the season at the local diamond. The contest, originally set for Sycamore, was postponed twice, making this a big, decisive matchup for both teams.
The report notes improving weather after a stormy start, with crowds growing during the Fall Festival week. Central attractions include Lasere Lasere trapeze acts, local talent stunts, a lively band, and newly secured rides a merry go round and ferris wheel. The county horse shoe pitching contest offers 15 for first and 10 for second with a 50 cent entry per two person team.
At a Monday Kiwanis luncheon, Carey club members backed a city park swimming pool project with sponsor W R Kurtz. Plans show a lagoon, island, foot bridge, bath house and landscape design to be completed this fall. They also raised funds in minutes to buy uniforms and a football for Carey High School to boost a struggling team.
Carey hosts Bread Week as three local bakeries urge residents to buy Carey made bread. They advertise with a full page Times ad, distribute thousands of hand bills, and stage displays at the Tall Festival to boost home industry and improve trade.
On a trip to the fair last Wednesday Miss Frances Phillips Miss Opal Rothgeb Leon Phillips and Howard Presler rode Bert Presler's auto toward Bowling Green. Near Cygnet they tried to pass another car and were struck from ahead. The Presler car left the road and overturned into a ditch causing severe injuries: Leon Phillips broke his right wrist Miss Rothgeb lost three front teeth and Miss Phillips sustained back injuries. The driver was unhurt.
