Carey Falls to Oak Harbor in Heartbreaker Finish
Carey High School kept pace with Oak Harbor until a late fourth quarter surge by Oak Harbor sealed a 13-7 defeat for Carey. Eddie Wentling led Carey with 13 rushing yards on 18 carries and Tom Greer directed the offense, while Oak Harbor stopper Dave St Clair and Tom Hurrell powered the visitors. At a Monday council session three W Brown Avenue property owners, E G Snyder, Russell Fagan and Heart Dible, urged approval of a third curbing petition. They offered to pay three quarters of advance costs. Council noted residents cover 98 percent of curbing and village 2 percent, with street construction costs delaying progress. They promised to draft a plan. Other items included health department praise for Carey water supply, curbing on E Brown Avenue, and rejection of an 8 inch water line for Patterson Street. Police court receipts totaled 72 755 dollars. Building permit issued for a 24 by 26 frame garage at 130 West Street.
