J L Hood Dies In Auto Crash Near Patterson
James L Hood was killed in a car crash on a gravel road near Patterson. He suffered a broken neck and chest injuries when his Chevrolet struck a tree, with his car wrecked to remove his body. Hood, born December 11 1874, lived in Carey and taught in Hardin county schools before moving to carpentry. He leaves a widow Harriet and five children, with services at the Carey Methodist Church and burial in Spring Grove Cemetery.

W S Huffman told Rozanna and Mrs Lawr renne Bland read from the scrap book. The Foreign Missionary society began with Mrs S M Gook presiding and Mrs BE Harshberger reading minutes and roll. Lutheran Homecoming Observed With Church Revival
Lutheran church marked Homecoming Day with a morning worship flag presentation by the Wonder Bible class. About 125 attended a noon pot-luck in the parish house followed by a program with readings by Janice Wenner and talks by Supt W L Arnholt Truman Romig and G V Sutphen of Toledo. Sutphen, former chorister, led songs and Levi Hile offered the closing prayer. Out of town guests were noted and plans were set for the 71st anniversary in November.
