1947 Driver Licenses Go On Sale Statewide
The 1947 licenses go on sale Monday September 9 at about 750 deputy registrar offices statewide. Current licenses expire September 30 and driving without a 1947 license becomes illegal after that date.Applicants with a 1946 license must present it along with a 2 by 2 inch photo. chauffeurs need a 1946 license and photo. Weather has been excellent and the first rodeo and horse show drew over 1500 under Wyandotte Rangers club. Exhibits across all departments are said to be the best ever with record numbers.

Carey Booster Club Builds Two New Bandstands West of Grandstand
The Carey Booster Club funds two bandstands for Mr Lewis Hawk and the High Swiggo Band to expand bleacher space. Located west of the existing grandstand built last Fall, the 60 foot long structure includes a concession stand between bleachers. He served 28 months with two years overseas and earned the ETO ribbon with two battle stars, combat infantryman badge, and Victory and Austria occupation ribbons. A mother bear with two cubs moved from Steuben County Indiana to DeKalb County. Residents report the bear standing on hind legs and clawing trees near the Raymond Mutzfeld farm. Officers say tracks were found along the woods edge and the trio damaged about 10 bushels of onions on Gaylord Mullet’s patch southwest of Butler and warn residents not to shoot.
