Carey High Blue Devils defeat Col Crawford 36 to 14 in NCIC play. Bandy Mills scored four touchdowns and led Carey’s offense while Keith Diebler and Jim Diebler contributed on passing and defense. Tom Yingling stood out with 20 tackles as Carey solidified late win.

Crist Receives PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at OSU

Jerry Crist earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Inorganic Chemistry at Ohio State University's summer quarter commencement on August 30. He is the son of Mrs. Dorothy Crist and the late Hobart L. Crist, married to Joyce Roynon, with one son Jeffrey Bryan, and currently an assistant professor of chemistry at the Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan. The Crist family resides in Warren, Michigan.

Junior Snaders Discuss Project Requirements at Tewell Home

The Junior Snaders met Friday after school to talk over project requirements. Clifford Lanker led games while Mrs. Tewell provided refreshments. Ronald Hievinbotham described his bug collection and how he displayed it at the North Baltimore Garden Club Show. The group plans a 4 H Booth for the County Fair and meets again October 4, 1968.

Humphrey and Wife to Attend Wyandot County Fair

Hubert H. Humphrey III and Nancy Lee will visit with Thomas Guthery, candidate for State Representative, at the Wyandot County Fair today September 11 from 5 30 to 7 30 pm. Humphrey is a 1965 political science graduate of American University and a junior at the University of Minnesota Law School, planning to graduate in 1969.

Dyer Girls Recovering After Car Train Crash

Delphine and Darlene Dyer of Vanlue remain hospitalized at Memorial Hospital Crestline after a car train collision that killed their parents and brother. Carey Village Council Approves Entrance Markers and Dump Closure

Carey Ohio council approves two wrought iron entrance markers for Snyder Division and a new garbage contract with Orion Wilgus. The agreement sets residential charges at 1.75 monthly and business rates up to 2.50 per pickup, with 90 days notice to terminate. The meeting also discusses closing the old village dump with bids from Homer Sammet and Richard Feeley, and notes repairs and a forthcoming resolution of respect for former administrator George Dunn.

Eugene Orians of the Carey Council heads the Knights of Columbus 1968 All-Ohio Youth Campaign. Former Carey youth dies in Korea accidental gun wound

A 22 year old Marion man and former Carey resident P O 3C Ronald Joe Earhart died September 7 in Fasconi Hospital Japan after being accidentally wounded in Inchon Korea where his ship USS Coucal docked. He was born August 25 1942 and had planned discharge from the Navy later this year. He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church and attended Harding School. Surviving are his parents Mr and Mrs Joe Earhart and two sisters Dixie Diane Debra Kay and grandparents Mrs Dixie B Glenn and Charles Earhart. Center Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Former Carey Resident Ries Charles P Starkey Dies

Charles P Starkey 75 of 06 Rainer, Maryland, died August 29 at George General Hospital in N Rainer. Services were held September 2 at Mount R with burial in Baltimore Na Cemetery. Born June 6, 1893 in Bell W Va, he was the son of deceased parents. He married Edith Nickerson. they divorced. Survived by sons John C and Wind of Findlay and four other children.
