The 1969 appointment of major standing committees by President Kenneth N Graham of Winters National Bank and Trust Dayton was announced. Dorcas Donelson Florence Metz won first in a Friday event. Harold Shiley Nancy Hall claimed consolation. Lawrence Oriang Gladys Yentz won consolation. William Crowe hospitalized for heart surgery.
Yingling scored three touchdowns and Greer connected on two extra points as Carey defeated Col. Crawford 30 to 0. Tom Yingling added a 48 yard touchdown, Shaffer added a two yard score, and the Blue Devils rolled to a 16 0 halftime lead before finishing strong in the second half.
A rear end collision on state route 568 nine miles northwest of Carey injured 10 year old Carey McLaughlin and caused extensive vehicle damage. Henry A. Blair Jr. of Carey was cited for following too closely as Wyandot County Sheriff’s Department investigated.
Vanlue High School lists players by number position class and weight in the 1969 roster. Names include Tim Coldiron 62 G senior 145 and Rick Phillips 16 QB junior 160, with coach Gary Bed json and assistants G. Michael Poole. Cheerleaders Barbara Wisner Beverly Wisner Charlotte Ward Donna Bradley er.
Coleman Cable and Wire Company restructures leadership with E. G. Ryman named President of the Porcelain Products Division and C. Rea Guthridge promoted to Executive Vice President after a Coleman Board meeting. Allan Coleman reports the vote approving these title changes.
The first annual Memorial Field Mass for the Knights of Columbus will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 14 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. All members of the first through fourth degrees in the Northwest Ohio District will be invited to participate.
June Rose Fredritz among 38 freshman entrants as Providence Hospital School of Nursing opens its 55th year of nursing education for young women. Seniors train at St. Charles Hospital Toledo and Akron Children’s Hospital while juniors begin affiliation. The ceremony honors late John F Kennedy and district Knights. Shrine events include an honor guard and regalia.
The nights of Pythias meet Tuesday at Castle Hall while Carey Kiwanis gathers Monday at the Bowl-Era Restaurant. Carey High School season tickets are on sale with student priced at 2 dollars and adult at 4.50. Past Matrons of Crawford Chapter host a 6:30 p.m. meeting September 10 in Masonic Hall with a potluck. Cub Scouts Den 1 Pack 13 skip Friday meeting September 12 due to Fair Week.
Four weeks of work by Carey DeMolay include an axel and frame fitting donated by Ray Smalley of REB Welding and carpentry from Snyder Lumber. The group spent about 600 on materials with many donations. They plan to serve fish and chips at Wyandot County Fair and hope to rent the mobile unit to other DeMolay chapters.
Harold E. Karcher, son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Karcher of Carey, earned both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Agricultural Education at Ohio State University’s August 29 commencement. He belonged to Alpha Gamma Rho and Gamma Sigma Delta and served in Freshman Senate and Towers. He has taught Vocational Agriculture at North Union High School in Richwood.
A special event for women drivers is planned for Friday Sept 12 at the Wyandot County Fair. The powder puff derby limits entry to 10 ladies with old cars and helmets. A $50 prize and trophy await the winner whose car survives the crash. Entries available at fair office or local service stations.

Carey council met last Tuesday in an adjourned session with all members present. A petition to abandon the 60 foot right of way for a future road in the Heck addition off St Marys Ave was discussed. The petition by F K Cassel in the names of Richard E Ward Rosemary Ward and James Heck seeks return of property rights to owners. Council to discuss further at next meeting. First bill advance to J F Co for sanitary sewer work. Lola Vertach to serve again as school crew guard at Vance and Sq.
