Airplane Damaged in Emergency Landing Near Carey Farm
A small plane carrying four men from Chanute Air Force Base made an emergency landing at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on Ray Hunter farm two miles south of Carey after engine failure. The pilot Joel Wilcox of Rantoul Illinois steered into a stubble field then crossed a fence into an adjoining corn field. The craft was heavily damaged but no injuries were reported. An Air Force crew later dismantled the plane and moved it to Illinois.
