The Strand management states opposition to tent shows and festival fundraisers that dodge license fees or divert benefits. They pledge to support genuine charities with fair percentages and invite public critique while defending the theatre’s role as a public entertainment venue.
Wyandot County schools were ordered to remain closed during the present week as a precaution against infantile paralysis. Opening is set for Monday morning with partial session, textbooks afternoon, and regular classes starting Tuesday. Noon dismissal 11:40. afternoon ends 3:45 for elementary and 4:00 for high school.
A Ford driven by Paul Bland and a Chevrolet driven by G W Beis collided at the North and Patterson streets intersection. The Ford tipped on its side and was badly damaged. both Bland and passenger James Gibson were bruised. The Beis car traveled east while Bland went north. The damaged vehicle was taken to the Stoll garage for repairs.
Mrs Hobart Tong remained a patient at White Cross hospital in Columbus. On Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Dr Smith operated for removal of a fibroid tumor. Mr Tong telephoned the hospital at noon and learned his wife is recovering nicely.
Due to the delayed opening of public schools the first Parent-Teacher Association meeting, originally set for the second Monday in September, is rescheduled for Monday September 19.
The appearance of the business section has improved as fronts of several buildings were repainted, brightening the street. The work enhances curb appeal and local commerce ambiance for shoppers and tenants.
A dance event at New Riegel on Thursday September 8 features the Husy Orchestra. Activities include round and square dances with an entry of 33p.

The 17th Stoll reunion gathered 40 relatives at Carey Park on Wednesday August 31. Officers elected for the coming year include Tracey Johnson president J J Stoll vice president and Kathryn McDonald secretary treasurer. The 1928 reunion is planned for the park on the first Saturday in September.
The C. L. of C. Monday evening focused on initiation activities. Kathryn Myers drew the mystery package and Mrs Ralph Brown won the attendance prize. Next social will be Monday September 19.
Logan Gas Co turned off Carey’s gas supply Wednesday afternoon to move the regulator from a crossing near the Big Four and A. C. Y. to a new site on the J. D. Carothers farm just outside town limits.

Wittenberg aims for a stronger 1927 gridiron campaign with 9 of 10 1926 scorers returning. Captain Victor Maurer leads a veteran backfield alongside Ulrich Price Grant and Beeman, with a 10 game schedule featuring Ohio State Miami and Cincinnati among others.
Prof A S Postle, Hyattsville superintendent, has been elected Carey High principal. A respected school leader, he impressed students and patrons with thorough work and strong expectations. His departure from Hyattsville follows a well earned promotion and is met with regret and best wishes.
The annual horse traders convention runs from September 12 to 21 at Glen Gault farm, 30 miles east of Carey on the Carey Sycamore pike. Traders will trade horses and second hand automobiles, and families camp during the session. last year the event was near Rising Sun.

The annual Reminiscence Party will be held on Sunday at the home of Doctor Kear near Forest. Citizens are invited to attend this social gathering and share memories in a neighborhood event setting.
Wesley Gregg of Sycamore was in town Wednesday. Arthur and Mrs Postle and children spent the weekend in Delaware. Scott McKinnon filled as night policeman during Mr Long's absence. Many locals hosted relatives from Cleveland Kenton Detroit and Toledo while others vacationed in Florida Boston and Canada. A ton il operation for Miss Vivian Otto occurred in Findlay with her parents nearby. A fishing trip to Michigan for Orson Gibson and party yielded multiple bass and a 30 inch pike.
The 23rd annual Wyandot County WCTU convention convenes Wednesday at the Carey Lutheran church with sessions beginning 9:30 AM and 7:30 PM. Mrs. Mary Suter and Mrs. Romans address temperance work. features include music by local unions and a pot luck meal.
The marriage of Miss Rea Kimmel and Robert Coldren was celebrated at Newport Kentucky on December 15 1926. The couple, both A H S graduates from the class of 1924, plan to reside in Findlay after Mrs Coldren completes nurse training at Findlay Home and Hospital on September 15. Mr Coldren works as a barber in Findlay.
Gust Wheeler, about 60, died at 11:00 pm Tuesday at his home of cancer of the face after a five week illness in Sycamore. He worked at the Big Four water softener and is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Lyman Stewart. Funeral services are set for Friday at 10:00 am at the Crawford home in Sycamore.

A D A R group visited Rowland Bretz and West Union cemeteries to mark graves of two Revolutionary soldiers and one real daughter of the Revolution. Joseph Rowland, Samuel Harper, and Mrs. Lucy Ann Gump were honored with markers read by local members, including Miss Leefa Rowland Miss Iva Miller and Miss Emma Miller. The ceremony included a marker noting Sam Wells born 1769 died 1866 a colored boy who aided during the burning of Col Crawford.
Carey High's football squad under Coach Harry Bowman begins its rigorous training for the season. Veterans Krebs Gardner Winans and Spitler return in the backfield with line players Ries ter Lynn McKee Hilty Kitzler Dotson BE Gardner and Captain Quintin McKee. Schedule includes Waite Kenton Bluffton Calvert Tiffin St. Wendelin Fostoria Willard Forest and Liberty with Upper Sandusky clash at home on Armistice Day. Bluffton Kenton St. Wendelin and Liberty also visit.
The editor returns from the East and finds evidence the Pemberville Leader office visited the Times office the day before. A card with this information was found on Friday morning. The Leader is praised as one of the best weekly papers in Ohio.
A benefit social for the Catholic cemetery at McCutchenville is set for Tuesday evening September 13 at the Masonic hall. Attendees can enjoy fried chicken noodle soup country ham ice cream cake and other foods along with music. Everyone is welcome.
The Carey Mill and Elevator installs new Buffalo heavy duty truck scales in front of the mill with an 18 ton capacity. The old scales were reportedly installed in 1886.
The Carey Tilches owe Dr. C. Ray of northwest town for peaches grown on his farm. Varieties include a yellow Fit Girls and Champion white peaches.
A daughter was welcomed by Mr and Mrs Roy Johnson on Saturday and another daughter arrived Friday evening to Mr and Mrs Homer Orwick of Newhard Street.
