Ten members of Christ Lutheran Church Carey area attended the Lutheran Church in America Youth Conference in Miami Beach Florida from August 19 to 29. About 10 000 youths heard Vice President Hubert Humphrey speak on Christianity and citizenship. Other speakers included Dr Franklin Clark Fry Dr Paul Empie Dr Robert J Marshall and Dr Hagen Staack. Youths joined daily Bible study small group discussions and seaside recreation during the five day event.

Two Carey youths Reported Missing Then Found
The Carey Police Department received a missing persons report at 10 48 a m on Monday for two former Carey youths aged 10 and 16 who had run away from a Carey residence. They were traced after failing to pay for gas at a Findlay station and were in a station wagon stolen from Frank Heck on W Findlay Street. The Putnam county Sheriff’s Department later recovered the boys and they were returned to their parents with no charges filed.

Local Pair Deny Gance Theft Charges
Wayne A Rhoades and Steven D Dible were charged by the Seneca County Sheriff with stealing a 15 foot canoe from Camp Pittsburgh in Seneca County on July 17. The canoe worth about 70 dollars was found in Wyandot County on July 24 and identified as the one taken from the YMCA camp. They pleaded innocent in Tiffin Municipal Court, waived preliminary hearing, bound over to common pleas court, and released on 1500 dollar bond.

Two Persons Injured In Friday Mishap

The Roxeguaptanted Fire Department answered two calls this past week. An abandoned barn on Vern Heck's Elm Hill Road property was destroyed by fire, reported at 3:35 p.m. last Thursday. A minor grassfire on David Dible's farm southeast of Carey was extinguished at 5:41 p.m. Sunday.
