The Times runs a voting contest offering a $100 Diamond Ring and other prizes for energy and ambition. New subscribers earn 2,000 extra votes per five subscriptions. prizes include a $100 diamond, a gold watch, and assorted items. Votes are counted on Tuesday before noon for Thursday’s issue.
Misses Mary and Coretta Powell are expected home late this week from a stay with their aunt Mrs. John Smith in South Lyons, Michigan. Lotus Young of Grand Rapids, visiting her father Otto Young, spent Saturday in Toledo.
A quiet home ceremony at the bride’s parents three miles east of Clearwater united Earl Martin and Nell Beckett with Rev. W B Y Wilkie officiating. The couple, after a short reception, left for a honeymoon in Black Mountain North Carolina returning to Clearwater to establish their home. The bride is the Beckett daughter and the groom a partner in Martin Bros contractors and decorators.
About one hundred western Ohio people gathered for the first annual reunion in Trumbull county on August 12. Despite poor weather, sunshine brought a hearty day of songs recitals and a meal, followed by remarks and elections with Mrs Krabill as president and a plan for a 1910 reunion at Heard's Grove east of Phalanx Station.
The bans of Mr. Fary Jenet of this place and Mary Catherine Thomas of Upper Sandusky were published for the first time Sunday morning at Our Lady of Consolation church. About fifty Yentzer family members met at the old home place six miles south of town on Wednesday for their first annual reunion. Jacob Yentzer was elected president with John Yentzer as vice president Mrs B Bristol of Wharton as treasurer and Harry Hunter as secretary. The second reunion is set for September 1 1910 at the Fkes Blom name near Adrian.
A farmer at the station received guus sent by a Chicago mail order house, sparking a merchant to argue that local goods could be cheaper including freight. The farmer retorted that the home paper had long carried no notice of such pantry items or advertising.
A. L. Rogers and his family relocated to Sycamore last week. He plans to open a harness shop there.
A supper and fair at St. Nicholas Church Frenchtown raised nearly 200 dollars over Saturday and Sunday evenings, with proceeds supporting church work.
