Carey Piano Students Shine in Tiffin Recital

Sister M. Imelda's two piano pupils Judy Dible and Barbara Riester performed at Heidelberg College Tiffin during the North Central district Ohio Music Teachers Association convention. The event ran 1 to 8 pm with eight minutes per teacher for two students, followed by tea and a discussion.

Two Women Injured in Funeral Car Crash Near Athens

Mrs. Robert Walter of Wharton route 1 and Mrs. Gerald Tiong of Fostoria route 1 were treated for shock and bruises after an auto crash while attending a funeral. Their car was demolished and they were released from Sheltering Arms hospital in Athens.

Carey Students at Kent State Set Enrollment Record

Two of the 1,723 freshmen at Kent State University are John Anthony Berardinelli and Howard Jay Snowbarger of Carey. Kent State reports total enrollment of 6,904 full time students with 6,204 at the Kent campus and 700 at Canton.

Home Councilors Trip to Cincinnati Planned

Displaced Family Arrives at Carey After War Evacuation

Mr and Mrs Elmars Evele arrive at Carey as the first displaced persons. John Stewart reached New York on Wednesday November 9 and joined them at Carey where Rev Wade H Koons and Mrs Koons of Christ Lutheran Church greet them. The Evele family, originally from Riga Latvia, had spent years in a DP camp at Amberg Bavaria Germany. Mr Evele will train as an apprentice mason and carpenter under Carey contractor W L Hoff.

American Legion Meeting and Turkey Raffle Planned

Earl Green post No 344 of the American Legion will hold a meeting at 7 o'clock Monday evening November 21 with a county Legion meeting in Marseilles at 8 o'clock and a potluck supper. The local post will provide food for members and at 8 30 pm Friday a Turkey raffle will be held at the Legion hall. Commander Kermit Peterson urges a strong turnout.
