A bake sale will be held on Wednesday November 24 sponsored by the Latin Club. It will take place at Dible's Plumbing Shop starting at 5 00 p m. Buy baked goods to help support Thanksgiving.
A spring comedy centers on Jimmie and friendswho start Teen Town to raise funds after a wrestling manual debt threatens. The plot brings a public auction at the Hunter residence a looming juvenile court judge visit and a sudden celebrity arrival Miss Sheldon all leading to a climactic family reunion and the final performance Friday November 18 at 8 pm with seats at Mapes Rexall Drug store.
There will be a regular meeting of Carey lodge No. 407 I C O F this Thursday evening November 17 at 8 00 All members are urged to be present. VAN BAKER Secretary.
The photograph features Daniel Clingaman of near Wauseon Ohio taken Sept 25 1949 on his 103rd birthday celebration. He is Ohio’s last Civil War veteran having enlisted at 19 served in Co D 195th Regiment OVV IL with General Grant and was present at Appomattox for Lee’s surrender.
Sister M. Imelda's two piano pupils Judy Dible and Barbara Riester performed at Heidelberg College Tiffin during the North Central district Ohio Music Teachers Association convention. The event ran 1 to 8 pm with eight minutes per teacher for two students, followed by tea and a discussion.
Mrs. Robert Walter of Wharton route 1 and Mrs. Gerald Tiong of Fostoria route 1 were treated for shock and bruises after an auto crash while attending a funeral. Their car was demolished and they were released from Sheltering Arms hospital in Athens.
Two of the 1,723 freshmen at Kent State University are John Anthony Berardinelli and Howard Jay Snowbarger of Carey. Kent State reports total enrollment of 6,904 full time students with 6,204 at the Kent campus and 700 at Canton.
Approximately 40 Home Councilors from Wyandiot county will visit Cincinnati on Monday November 21. They plan tours of Ruth Lyon's Morning Matinee at JMET 6 Ban ee a and MRD Lt ne well, plus other city interests. Mrs Robert Mott of northeast Carey is president of the council.
In the Gamble Store ad on page 9% the Varcon Bonded anti-freeze price should read 98 cents per gallon instead of 89 cents.

Carey Kiwanis Club replaced its regular meeting with a Fall gathering at the Catholic parish hall. Mayor James A. Rhodes of Columbus spoke on Freedom for Athletics before a near full house as candidates for Ohio governor surfaced in Columbus papers. Regular meeting set for November 21.
Mr and Mrs Elmars Evele arrive at Carey as the first displaced persons. John Stewart reached New York on Wednesday November 9 and joined them at Carey where Rev Wade H Koons and Mrs Koons of Christ Lutheran Church greet them. The Evele family, originally from Riga Latvia, had spent years in a DP camp at Amberg Bavaria Germany. Mr Evele will train as an apprentice mason and carpenter under Carey contractor W L Hoff.
Earl Green post No 344 of the American Legion will hold a meeting at 7 o'clock Monday evening November 21 with a county Legion meeting in Marseilles at 8 o'clock and a potluck supper. The local post will provide food for members and at 8 30 pm Friday a Turkey raffle will be held at the Legion hall. Commander Kermit Peterson urges a strong turnout.
The Wyandot county election board confirms the official canvass of votes cast on Tuesday November 8 shows the figures published in last week's Carey Times were correct.
Mrs. Margaret Yost will entertain T. R. C. club members this Thursday afternoon at her Clay Street home.
Residents gathered as the Eagles played a Friday evening game in the city park. The event drew local families and fans, with cheerful crowds showing support and sharing refreshments under clear skies.
Memorial U B and First Methodist join Christ Lutheran to host a Union Thanksgiving service Wednesday evening November 23 at 7 30 oclock in the Methodist church. The sermon will be delivered by Rev H Myron Shimer with participation from Rev Wade H Koons of Christ Lutheran and Rev W B Smith of Memorial EB U B and the Methodist choir.
The Community Chest drive has raised $1,658.00 of its $3,100 target as of Wednesday morning with several organizations still unpaid and some solicitors unreported. The Third Order of St. Francis of Our Lady of Consolation holds a Day of Recollection on Sunday November 20. The program begins with an 8 am mass and includes meditation and talks by Fr. Ronald Pregnasco OFM. A noon dinner at Pilgrim House and parish-wide attendance are invited. New officers were elected: Prefect George Ball vice-prefect and secretary Mrs John S Welsh treasurer Miss Laura Mitten vice mistress Mrs Gertrude Du bois.

The Knights of Columbus schedule a game supper next Tuesday at 7 pm in the club rooms. During the regular meeting at 8 30 pm, memorial services will honor members who died in the past three years.
Carey temple No. 169 Pythian Elsters will meet promptly at 8 o'clock this Thursday evening. All members are requested to be present for initiation of candidates and nomination of officers. A social will follow the temple meeting with a committee appointed for a November 26 event at Nevada.
The W B A will hold a regular meeting Friday at 8 15 p m in the Mooseshall All members are asked to attend and bring an item for the white elephant auction during the evening.
The Carey Farmers Club faced Upper Sandusky in a high school football clash as Len Longanecker sparked Carey with key plays. Trailing 12-6 late, Carey rallied in the final minute, with Nye and Longanecker connecting on a decisive drive to tie and then seal a dramatic finish in front of about 4,000 fans.
The library is a storehouse of materials to educate and improve the community and to help parents raise children. It invites all citizens to visit, noting many see it as merely a public building or monument rather than a resource to give freely. The library board urges people to explore what is available and use its free services.
The Vanlue Band Mothers sponsor a concert by The Col W. Burger post No 424 Veterans of Foreign Wars Concert band of Fostoria at Vanlue school at 8 p.m. Monday November 28. The group won national championships for Veterans of Foreign Wars bands in 1947 1948 and 1949.
The Carey Band Mothers will hold a bake sale Saturday December 3 starting at 10 p.m. at Dible's Plumbing Shop. Items suitable for gifts will also be on sale.
The Past Matron's association of Crawford chapter No 168, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet Friday afternoon in the chapter room. A potluck dinner will be served.
