In Upper Sandusky before 3200 fans, the Rams beat Carey 12-7. Busick and Houser scored for Upper, while Smalley broke free for Carey and Ulrich, Wedge, and Snoberger produced key drives. Troiano and Karcher starred on defense as both teams traded punts and fumbles through a tight second half.

Former Carey Roy Pilot Reaches Scotland After Atlantic Flight

St Paul A Theis, son of Mr and Mrs Bert Theis of Fremont, a bomber pilot, and his crew landed safely in Scotland after crossing the Atlantic. He trained at MacDill Field and earned membership in the Short Snorter Club. Their practice ditching set a 13 second water crash landing record. Eugen Theis, his brother, is a Merchant Marine member.

Boarn Elected to Plan Cold Storage Locker Plant

At a Wyandot County Farm Bureau meeting in Carey a temporary board was named to organize a cold storage locker plant project. Chairman T. D. Romig and others including Earl Burson E. S. Gottfried L. D. Pratt Allan Baker L. A. Reinhart and Robert Mott were appointed with plans to be refined at future meetings.

Teen Age Club Chaperons and Needs Noted

Chaperons for the Teen Age club last week included Mrs. Ross Johnson, Mrs. Raymond Jacobs, Mrs. Wallace Preehe, Mrs. Clarence Wenner, and Mr. and Mrs. C Thome. The club needs card tables benches ping-pong balls and checker boards. Guard policy requires a member or chaperon to monitor out of touch guests. Carey High School graduates may join upon dues. Brother's letter from Sgt Alfred Stansbery in Italy

Paul Stansbery of West street reports a letter from his brother Sgt Alfred Stansbery in Italy. It is the first since August 24 and notes he was in a rest camp for seven days but is improved. He has served overseas 20 months with the Fifth Army seeing action in North Africa and Italy.

Publicity director C G Laird reports 33 000 of a 3 900 quota pledged and collected for the 1944 45 drive. Some shelters have not made final returns and it is expected that when reports are complete the 390 necessary to meet the quota will be pledged or collected.

Father and son Seemann’s World War II service tale told

Mr and Mrs C D Sheridan of Toledo share a Toledo Times feature about their son in law Daniel H Seemann and his son Robert Seemann both of Toledo. The piece notes Daniels arrival home from the Marine Corps 25 years earlier and Roberts 41 bombing missions with the 14th Air Force in China earning the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal and Oak Leaf cluster. Ralph Chester Sherman Enlists in Maritime Training

Sheepshead Bay New York is home to Ralph Chester Sherman 16 son of Mr and Mrs C W Sherman Carey Ohio now in United States Maritime Service training. Apprentices receive six weeks basic training covering lifeboat work firefighting breech jargon mess sea rules and traditions swimming ship construction and equipment gunnery and physical training. After boat training he may enter deck or engine training with three weeks aboard a training ship or apply to specialized schools.

The 6th War Loan Drive opens Monday November 20 with a national quota of 14 billion dollars. Carey’s local quota is 108378, higher than the 5th Drive and lower than the 4th. 698th Field Artillery Battalion Engages Po Valley Guns

Pfc Samuel Lesle Newcomer of Carey Ohio serves in the 698th Field Artillery Battalion which fired the first shells into the Po Valley. The unit uses 240 mm howitzers and 8 inch guns in long range fire observations. The battalion has destroyed bridges and enemy positions across Italy while supporting Fifth Army operations from Cassino to Rome.
