Public School News Highlights Season Wrap and New Equipment

The Upper game marked the football season’s end with six wins and two losses. Coaches Blose and Wentling receive praise for a strong season. Two portable Ditto machines were bought for two grade schools funded by activity profits. Thanksgiving week will bring a short schedule and a second round of six week tests. Attendance is down due to a mumps and measles outbreak.

Armistice Day Chapel Program Preview

Armistice Day observance featured devotionals by Mr. Driver. A Recessional by a vocal octette including Reid Burson, Buddy Pieracini, John Byers, David Weiser, Betty Hamler, Martha Jane Keller, Barbara Houk, and Janis Wenner. Rev. Lee gave the Armistice Day address. Betty Hamler sang My Buddy. Geralda Mae Moser played a Medley of War Songs on piano. Announcements were read by Mr. Mulholland.

Upper Sandusky Downs Carey 13-0 In Armistice Day Clash

Upper Sandusky defeated Carey 13 to 0 in the Armistice Day game. Robey connected with Snyder for a nine yard touchdown after a drive to the Carey 18 was stalled by a blocked kick. Bowers scored the other touchdown set up by Heck and continued by six straight carries. Fourteen seniors ended their careers including captain Chuck Heck and guards Jake Kidwell Jim Faires.

Farms Furnished Electric Power to Rural Areas in Ohio

Electric lines in Seneca and Wyandot counties were energized by Ohio Power Company via the RA substation northeast of Berwick. Wyandot County lines extend north of the Pennsylvania railroad, with about 140 miles of line to be served. The extension contract was sold around November 1. Directors include H. J. Wolf and Myron Case. the cooperative is North Central Farm Bureau Rural Electric, Inc., with R. J. Williams as manager. Carey area service is from a Tiffin lineman.

Carey Councilmen Honored in 1866 Oath Record

An 1866 affidavit by Justice Roswell Perry records that David Harpster Henry Houck William Shoemaker and Jacob Lantz took oath as Carey village councilmen. Perry later served as Carey mayor and died in a fall near Pete's Market.

Brothers Reunite After 32 Years in Ohio Family Tale

Mr and Mrs William Green and their son Jack left for Cleveland after visiting relatives in Carey. They were summoned by the death of Mrs Green's grandmother Mrs James Green northeast of town. Mrs William Green, foster daughter of the late M R Thomas and wife, located her brother Paul Youtsey of Colorado Springs Cole. The siblings, born in Van Wert, learned they have relatives there. Paul is married with a five year old son. The two had been separated for 32 years.

Post of Vice Site Being Purchased

Neighboring papers report a site for Carey’s proposed post office building to be bought at the southwest corner of Vance and North streets. The corner lot and one other lot will be purchased outright, a third lot to be acquired through condemnation proceedings.

Mrs Almon Blue Injured In Fall At Church

Mrs Almon Blue was taken to Findlay hospital by ambulance after a fall at Christ Lutheran church on Tuesday afternoon. An X-ray revealed a broken left hip and metal pegs will be inserted after three days to stabilize the bone, with Mrs Blue returning home three days later.

Roof Fire Extinguished at Mrs Ida Newcomer's Home

A mid day roof fire on Mrs Ida Newcomer's residence at W Findlay Street started from a spark from the chimney after she replenished the furnace fire. She called the fire department and the flames were put out with only a small area of the roof burned.
