The Upper game marked the football season’s end with six wins and two losses. Coaches Blose and Wentling receive praise for a strong season. Two portable Ditto machines were bought for two grade schools funded by activity profits. Thanksgiving week will bring a short schedule and a second round of six week tests. Attendance is down due to a mumps and measles outbreak.
Coach Blose announces next week as the start of basketball practice. The schedule is nearly finished with one February date still to fill.
Armistice Day observance featured devotionals by Mr. Driver. A Recessional by a vocal octette including Reid Burson, Buddy Pieracini, John Byers, David Weiser, Betty Hamler, Martha Jane Keller, Barbara Houk, and Janis Wenner. Rev. Lee gave the Armistice Day address. Betty Hamler sang My Buddy. Geralda Mae Moser played a Medley of War Songs on piano. Announcements were read by Mr. Mulholland.
The Girl Reserves hold a formal candlelight and initiation service at Christ Lutheran Church Sunday evening at seven oclock. The public is invited.
Upper Sandusky defeated Carey 13 to 0 in the Armistice Day game. Robey connected with Snyder for a nine yard touchdown after a drive to the Carey 18 was stalled by a blocked kick. Bowers scored the other touchdown set up by Heck and continued by six straight carries. Fourteen seniors ended their careers including captain Chuck Heck and guards Jake Kidwell Jim Faires.
Electric lines in Seneca and Wyandot counties were energized by Ohio Power Company via the RA substation northeast of Berwick. Wyandot County lines extend north of the Pennsylvania railroad, with about 140 miles of line to be served. The extension contract was sold around November 1. Directors include H. J. Wolf and Myron Case. the cooperative is North Central Farm Bureau Rural Electric, Inc., with R. J. Williams as manager. Carey area service is from a Tiffin lineman.
This week the Carey Times announces two new magazine clubs at low annual rates. Club No 1 titled The High Quality Offer includes Colliers or Look or Liberty substitutes with Mc Call's True Romances Household and Woman's World for 1 50 a year. Club No 2 The Real Value Offer includes Inside Detective Woman's World Household True Romances and Farm Journal Farmer's Wife with substitutes Path finder or Modern Screen for 1 a year.
An 1866 affidavit by Justice Roswell Perry records that David Harpster Henry Houck William Shoemaker and Jacob Lantz took oath as Carey village councilmen. Perry later served as Carey mayor and died in a fall near Pete's Market.
Mr and Mrs William Green and their son Jack left for Cleveland after visiting relatives in Carey. They were summoned by the death of Mrs Green's grandmother Mrs James Green northeast of town. Mrs William Green, foster daughter of the late M R Thomas and wife, located her brother Paul Youtsey of Colorado Springs Cole. The siblings, born in Van Wert, learned they have relatives there. Paul is married with a five year old son. The two had been separated for 32 years.
Neighboring papers report a site for Carey’s proposed post office building to be bought at the southwest corner of Vance and North streets. The corner lot and one other lot will be purchased outright, a third lot to be acquired through condemnation proceedings.
Mrs M A Washburn of Lawtons New York sent a subscription remittance last week and says she is eager to receive The Times which arrives every Friday. She is a former Carey resident.
Carey Community Chest president Earl B. Driver expresses gratitude for a successful campaign that over subscribed its goal. He credits captains solicitors and especially the secretary Mrs. Richard Frederick for efficient work and notes the drive elevates community spirit as Thanksgiving nears.
Carey council members discussed council goals and community service at a Tuesday session led by District Deputy T. M. Dowd. Fr. Paul led an informative quiz program while Fr. Robert reported progress on forming a bowling league. next meeting is Thursday, November 30 with a memorial service scheduled for November 30.
Mrs Mildred Longanecker underwent a goitre operation at Perrysburg on Saturday. Her sister Mrs Charles Suber accompanied her from Carey area. Longanecker is improving rapidly and expects to return to Carey on Sunday. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Minor Mann, visited Wednesday.
Mrs N J Wagner underwent nasal operations in Fostoria at Dr Stuart's office last Thursday. The procedure was performed November 1. While there she stayed with her son in law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Al Boff.
Carey Lodge No 420 F and AM announces a regular meeting on Friday evening November 24 with officer election dues due and refreshments to follow Carl Krout W M and William Zahn Secretary signaled for the lodge notice from the Masonic chapter.
Bobby Ward the two year old son of Mr and Mrs Russell Ward of West Brown Avenue was taken by Bristoll's ambulance to Fostoria City Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He is seriously ill with double pneumonia.
Elmer Wonder of N Vance Street is confined to his home with a painful knee injury after a fall in his barn. He experiences severe pain as he sits.
Sixty eight men attended the Carey Farmers' Community club banquet at the Catholic parish hall with Kiwanis members present. Music and prayers were led by local clergy and community leaders praised rural urban cooperation. Nearly 15 of the 16 year veterans attended, stressing long friendship between groups.

Mr and Mrs Leo Karcher of southwest of Carey have received an invitation to the marriage of their son Carl M Karcher and Miss Margaret Heinz both of Anaheim California The ceremony will be performed November 30 at St Boniface Catholic church in Anaheim.
The Carey Philharmonic Society will hold a choral rehearsal and social meeting on Tuesday evening November 21 at the home of Mrs H A L Wenner on W North Street. Mrs Evert Lee and Mrs Paul Heck assist hosts.
The young ladies sodality sponsors a dance at the Catholic parish hall this Thursday evening November 16. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Laura Dunn states that Be Modern Beaury Shop will be open in her shop every afternoon and evening by appointment except Thursday. No further details or dates provided.

At Sunday service the Common Service and church hymns will be highlighted. Additional groups will sing the Common Service. Rev. Paul R. Clouser continues notes on worship. Organ chimes by Fred W. Comner will be broadcast throughout the community. An 81st anniversary service is planned for December 8 with Dr. B. EG. Flack of Hamma Divinity School as speaker.
Mrs Almon Blue was taken to Findlay hospital by ambulance after a fall at Christ Lutheran church on Tuesday afternoon. An X-ray revealed a broken left hip and metal pegs will be inserted after three days to stabilize the bone, with Mrs Blue returning home three days later.
The annual Community Thanksgiving service will be held next Wednesday evening November 22 at 7 30 in Christ Lutheran church. Three Protestant ministers will conduct the service and Rev B L Lee of Memorial Evangelical church will deliver the Thanksgiving sermon. The community is invited to attend.
Members urged to attend regular meeting Thursday evening as charter drape in memory of Mrs Jefferson is planned. Special business will be transacted and the annual roll call observed. Afterward the September and October committee host a birthday social.

A mid day roof fire on Mrs Ida Newcomer's residence at W Findlay Street started from a spark from the chimney after she replenished the furnace fire. She called the fire department and the flames were put out with only a small area of the roof burned.
Mrs and Mrs Eugene Huelsman of Bellefontaine welcomed a 70%-pound daughter named Linda Ann on November 9 at Piqua Memorial Hospital by Caesarean operation. The father, a supervisor of track on the Sandusky division of the New York Central railroad, is reported in the Bellefontaine newspaper item.
Mrs I Rowland of SE North Street will host the Past Chiefs of Carey Temple Python Sisters at her home on Thursday November 16. A potluck dinner is planned for 12 noon with each guest asked to bring her own table service.
