Bradley resigns from Findlay First Evangelical Lutheran Church

Dr. W. E. Bradley resigns as pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church Findlay effective December 31. He cited a heavy workload as the reason and stated no definite plans after January 1. Bradley, formerly of Carey, began ministry at Christ Lutheran Church.

Church organist resigns after 37 years service

Mrs. C. G. Laird, organist at First Methodist Church since 1926, resigned effective November 1. She was honored at a dinner during the quarterly conference.

Ballot wording upheld for village government change

Wyandot County voters approved abandoning the village manager form 547 to 409 on November 5. Deputy clerk Wm J Hunter defended the ballot wording, saying it followed statute and Secretary of State guidance despite some citizen complaints.

Carey JCs Host Pass Gavel Program

Carey Jaycees hosted nine Tiffin Jaycees at the American Legion Hall for a Pass the Gavel service. Carl Cupp and Clifford Hickok screened Carey High football films. They planned to buy Christmas trees for public sale and voted to donate a turkey for the Carey Jaycee-Ettes Thanksgiving basket. A visit with Findlay Jaycees was set for November 13 to continue the program.

Tracy, 41, Colonial executive, dies in Washington

Jack W. Tracy 41 of Atlanta vice president personnel and employee relations Colonial Stores died of an apparent heart attack at 4 30 p m Tuesday Nov 12 1963 while boarding a plane at National Airport Washington D C He had a long heart ailment and funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time He was born Nov 22 1921 in Crawford Ohio and rose from Army service to law and corporate roles including Anchor Hocking Glass Co and the National Labor Relations Board He was active in the Methodist Church Castleview Country Club and local charities survived by wife Dorothy Shea six children and a sister Remembrances to the American Heart Association are requested.

Election returns differ from front page district tally

Last week a front page report split the election story from the tabulated returns causing apparent discrepancies in school district figures. The article notes the board of education winners for the entire district including Ridge and part of Big Spring in Seneca county, while the table reflected only Carey and Crawford township precincts.

Building Progress Report On School Expansion

Superintendent Douglas W. Myers outlines progress on the Colonel Crawford Building with the third floor roof deck poured and close up nearing. The High School Building sees the new gym sub floor installed and partitions in the old gym underway while the area between the two structures is being closed in and Glazers begin window work this week.

Gardner Re-Elected Treasurer at ONU Parents Day

ADA Alfred Gardner of Carey was re-elected treasurer of the Ohio Northern University Parents' Association at the annual meeting in Lehr Auditorium. Gardner, father of ONU junior Gay Gardner, attended with more than 400 parents for an all-day program plus a football game against Hillsdale and a dinner-dance in the evening.

Revival at Oak Grove Church Begins Sunday

The Rev. Ellis Guthrie of Eaton Church of the Brethren will lead revival services at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren northwest of Carey. Services start 7 30 p m each evening through Nov 24 with the public invited to participate. Guthrie studied at Bluffton College and Bethany Seminary in Chicago and previously pastored in Marion. The Rev. Darrel Fruth is the local pastor.

Mrs. Robert Mott served as a grand page at the 73rd Grand Chapter Session of the Order of the Eastern Star held at Civic Auditorium Cleveland from November 4 to 7. Mr. Mott and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Burson attended the session. District 10 matrons and patrons hosted a reception at the Sheraton Cleveland Hotel for Mrs. Alice Ryder of Bucyrus who was elected associate grand conductress of the Grand Chapter of Ohio.

Kiwanis Pancake Supper Set for November 21

The Carey Kiwanis Club named Thursday November 21 for its annual pancake and sausage supper. Serving runs 4 to 8 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church gymnasium with Clyde Jenkins in charge of the chefs and Kiwanians handling the serving.

Junior Royalty crowned at the Carey-Upper Sandusky game before about 3000 spectators. John G. Greer Jr and Cheryl Heffelfinger named Junior King and Queen by State Representative Fred K. Cassel. Runners up announced and trophy gifts presented by Beta Psi Chapter with music from the Carey High School Band.

Carey Jaycee Ettes tour Wyandot Museum in Carey

Members of the Carey Jaycee Ettes toured the Wyandot County Museum with board members Otto Vent and Irvin Tschantz doing the explanations. A $10 donation to Carey Community Chest was approved. Babysitting Clinic report plus thanks for help, and a Thanksgiving basket drive noted. Next meeting set for December 9 at Mrs Howard Snowberger’s home with a Christmas gift exchange.
