Village Government Charge Voted in Carey Election

Carey electors voted Tuesday to abandon the non-partisan council manager form for a partisan council mayor system with a 3 member board of trustees. The unofficial tally: 547 to abandon and 400 opposed, with precinct A alone voting yes. Incumbent Ferdinand Williams and Joseph Sammet won school board seats. Charles W. Laudenslager and Mrs. Gerald Rickle were elected to council. A Wyandot County Home bond failed. the state bond issue also failed in Carey and Crawford Township.

Village Council approves High Street widening plan

The village council authorized drafting a salary ordinance and voted to widen High Street from Findlay to Frederick Streets. The project, pushed by residents, will be funded from general and utilities funds with curbs fully paid by property owners. Legal advertising will precede work, delaying start until mid winter, with priority next spring. One way traffic in front of the High School and Crawford Buildings is considered to ease congestion.

Village to Begin Next Week Trash Pickup Plan

Mr Dunn and George Coakley, superintendent of street water and sewer departments, plan village trucks to collect rubbish next week. A schedule appears elsewhere in this issue. Ohio Fuel Gas Co will restore rates to the current ordinance on Dec 1, raising two cents per thousand cubic feet.
