Armistice Evening Guests at Legion Auxiliary Dinner

Earl Green Unit of the American Legion will host an Armistice Evening event on Tuesday November 11 at 6 30. A tureen dinner will be served and each auxiliary member should bring a covered dish sandwiches and table service.

Armistice Day Observance Planned By Legion And Schools

On Tuesday November 11 at 1030 a m Earl Green Post of the American Legion and Carey Schools will jointly observe Armistice Day at the high school. A committee including EH Mulholland Charles Calmes and Clarence Thome of the Legion and Supt Earl B Driver arranged the program with flag raising invocations poems briefs address songs and a final 11 am Legion service.

Operation in Findlay for 7 week old boy

George Richard Coakley seven week old son of Mr and Mrs George Coakley of Hoff block was taken to Findlay hospital last Thursday evening. An 8 30 o clock operation was performed to relieve a telescoped intestine. The child had not been well since birth. Mrs John Nelson accompanied the family to the hospital.

Carnival at the high school promises turkey prize

F. F.4 carnival at the high school on Friday November 14 offers door prizes a turkey and an electric clock. Entertainment includes dancing contests cakewalk football games and refreshments. Proceeds fund a Christmas trip through the South for the group.

Stolls Sell Farm Southwest of Carey to Lee Family

Mr and Mrs Harry Stoll sold their southwest Carey farm to Orville Lee and his son Harold who will run the farm but lease the house and garage. The Stolls plan a farm sale on Wednesday November 26 and will move to the Sylvester Shuman property on W Findlay Street, which they have bought and are remodeling.

Carey Community Chest Drive Progress Report

The Carey Community Chest drive which began October 31 is progressing ahead of the same period last year. The goal is 2200 dollars, 350 more than last year, and organizers expect many contributors to give more than in 1940. Solicitors’ reports are incomplete, so total pledged to date cannot be estimated.

Night football power costs rise in Columbus stadium

The Ohio Power company set a new minimum rate for electric power charges for night games at Columbian stadium. The monthly minimum is 109.50 dollars based on maximum demand. Three night games ran in the stadium last month, but a single game in a meter month costs the same.

Delta Business Men Against Peddling Bills Daily Ordinance

Delta business men in a recent meeting told village officials they support the town’s anti peddling bills ordinance in force for years. The license fee covers 24 hours and has yielded about 180 dollars annually to aid village operating expenses and ease housewives from sweeping porch litter.

Scene at Benton Ridge Bomber Crash Site Where 5 Men Died

Mr and Mrs Wickiser visited the Benton Ridge crash site where five air crewmen perished. A 7 to 8 foot deep 20 foot wide crater was dug and bodies lay scattered over 200 to 300 feet with cornfield scorch marks and husks burned. A pheasant corpse lay nearby and a fragment of aluminum and copper from the bomber was recovered.

Sportsmen Club Meets For Fish Fry And Pheasant Contest

Carey Farmers and Sportsmen Protective Association met Monday night with about 60 members attending. A fish fry featured the gathering and the group announced a pheasant fall contest with $50 in prizes. Nonmembers can contact club members for entry details.
