Slo Pitch League Opens Season With Monday Games

The Slo Pitch League starts play Monday with two games weekly plus additional games on Wednesday and Friday nights. Week's schedule lists NL&S vs K of C at 7:30 and Tim's vs JC at 8:30 on Monday, followed by Swan vs Harry’s Pharmacy at 7:30 and NL&S vs Tim's at 8:30 on Wednesday.

T. D. Romig spoke about his business trip to Wisconsin as the program for the Carey Farmers Community Club meeting Monday night at the K of C hall. Committees for the June meeting were named with Harvey Savidge and Reid Heck on program, Don Wickiser and R. J. Lamberjack on refreshments.

Killing Frost Arrives Late Hits Italian Tomato Bed

Mrs. Walter Fout reported her 16 by 3 foot tomato bed was thoroughly frozen after covering plants Wednesday night and deciding it was too warm to frost. By Friday morning she could salvage little as cold water attempts failed. A brief sleet occurred in Carey around 10 am last Wednesday.

Carey Shuffleboard Club to Host Ohio State Doubles Tourney

The rite of confirmation will be administered at Christ Lutheran Church on Pentecost Sunday at 10 30 a m. Rosary Altar Society Elects New Officers At May Meeting

The May meeting of the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of Consolation parish on May 21 drew 48 members and two guests. Mrs. Clarence Hoeps was elected president, with Mrs. John Greer as president elect, and other officers including vice president Mrs. Thomas Hilty, secretary Miss Christine Straw, and treasurer Mrs. Edmond Pahl. Memorial Day Address By Father Karl Chesher

Father Karl Chesher OFM Conv director of lay retreats at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation will give the Memorial Day address at Spring Grove and St Marys Cemeteries. The parade forms at the Dorcas Carey Public Library at 9 am and proceeds to Spring Grove by 9 30 with the Carey High School Band Boy Scouts Girl Scouts Cubs Brownies a majorette unit Legionnaires and other veterans. After rites at Spring Grove the group moves to St Marys for concluding services. Earl Green Post American Legion arranges the observance with Legionnaires meeting at 8 30 am.

Carey Track Men Place in State Broad Jump Four

Carey High School athletes competed in state qualifying in Columbus and Mansfield. Ronald Wise finished fourth in the state broad jump with 20 feet 214 inches. Mike Dasher and Dave Myers also placed in various events and set records at Mansfield and Bowling Green district meets.

Luther League Bike Hike And Election Of Officers

Members of the Intermediate Luther League and advisors rode 17 miles Sunday from Christ Lutheran Church returning between 6 and 7 PM. Nancy Cressman of Christ Luther League is chosen by the Luther League of the LCA for the 1963 Work Camp Program.
