The Carey Garden Club announces its second annual flower show themed Days We Remember to be held June 8 from 1 to 8 PM in the First Methodist Church social room. Entries are open to the public with no fee and judging by Mrs. Benno Miller of Delphos.
The Slo Pitch League starts play Monday with two games weekly plus additional games on Wednesday and Friday nights. Week's schedule lists NL&S vs K of C at 7:30 and Tim's vs JC at 8:30 on Monday, followed by Swan vs Harry’s Pharmacy at 7:30 and NL&S vs Tim's at 8:30 on Wednesday.
T. D. Romig spoke about his business trip to Wisconsin as the program for the Carey Farmers Community Club meeting Monday night at the K of C hall. Committees for the June meeting were named with Harvey Savidge and Reid Heck on program, Don Wickiser and R. J. Lamberjack on refreshments.
Mrs. Walter Fout reported her 16 by 3 foot tomato bed was thoroughly frozen after covering plants Wednesday night and deciding it was too warm to frost. By Friday morning she could salvage little as cold water attempts failed. A brief sleet occurred in Carey around 10 am last Wednesday.

Village manager George Dunn announced the pool will be ready for Memorial Day despite cold conditions. John McDaniel returns as pool manager with lifeguards Robert Shaull Jr Bruce Richards Sue Canode and Judy Heck. Donald Urban will supervise playground games starting June 3.
Members of the American Legion Earl Green Post No 344 decorated graves of departed comrades Sunday and could not determine if all were found. Families are asked to notify the Legion if a grave is missing.

Mrs. Lela Cross traveled from her daughter's home in Tiffin to Blanchard Valley Hospital for X rays and returned on Friday.
Mrs Howard Snowberger chair man of the local Cancer Fund Drive reports a total of $618.31 collected. She thanks volunteers including Police Capt. Paul F Pahl and Officers Harold Coppler and William Swartz for soliciting in business districts and industry while residents aided by numerous collectors.
The Carey Shuffleboard Club in Ohio will host the Ohio State Doubles Tournament June 14 15 and 16 marking the first state event held there Residents from across Ohio are expected to enter Committees for the year were announced with Denver Donelson as president Harold Shiley as tournament manager and a Memorial Day tournament and pot luck supper planned in the park shelterhouse Membership is open to anyone over 18 with dues of 2 Regular tournaments run on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
The rite of confirmation will be administered at Christ Lutheran Church on Pentecost Sunday at 10 30 a m. Seventeen youths completed a year of catechetical instruction and passed a public examination. They were received by Paul Burson the lay leader. Cub Scouts from Den 1 Pack 13 toured Carey Fire Station last Thursday led by Chief Orion Wilgus. They rode in a Segrave fire truck and met scouts Alex Coppler Danny Coppler Rodney Howard Kenneth Savidge David Yates Jimmy Yeater Craig Turnbell Jerry Wise with Den Mother Mrs Lester Savidge and assistants Mrs Bill Howard Brad and Curt Howard.
Glenn Williams Wallace Williams and the Rev George E Cressman Sr attended the Showando session at Camp Owens on May 18 with instructor Willard Barth. They report the training as most worthwhile.
The May meeting of the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of Consolation parish on May 21 drew 48 members and two guests. Mrs. Clarence Hoeps was elected president, with Mrs. John Greer as president elect, and other officers including vice president Mrs. Thomas Hilty, secretary Miss Christine Straw, and treasurer Mrs. Edmond Pahl. The new officers will be installed June 1 for a one year term.
Airman First Class Clifford Zellon Ritter of Carey Ohio has graduated from the Strategic Air Command Noncommissioned Officer Preparatory School at Goose Bay Labrador. He is a television repairman in the 4082nd Strategic Wing and a former Carey High School student.

Howard E. Nye aged 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard E. Nye of Carey Ohio, reported to Naval Training Center Great Lakes Illinois on April 16 to begin 9 weeks of recruit training.

Father Karl Chesher OFM Conv director of lay retreats at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation will give the Memorial Day address at Spring Grove and St Marys Cemeteries. The parade forms at the Dorcas Carey Public Library at 9 am and proceeds to Spring Grove by 9 30 with the Carey High School Band Boy Scouts Girl Scouts Cubs Brownies a majorette unit Legionnaires and other veterans. After rites at Spring Grove the group moves to St Marys for concluding services. Earl Green Post American Legion arranges the observance with Legionnaires meeting at 8 30 am.
Carey High School athletes competed in state qualifying in Columbus and Mansfield. Ronald Wise finished fourth in the state broad jump with 20 feet 214 inches. Mike Dasher and Dave Myers also placed in various events and set records at Mansfield and Bowling Green district meets.
Members of the Intermediate Luther League and advisors rode 17 miles Sunday from Christ Lutheran Church returning between 6 and 7 PM. Casey Roynon presided as officers were elected for the coming year: President Cheryl Roynon Vice President Ann McKee Secretary Lana Dible Treasurer Pam Mills. Retiring officers include Lana Dible Cassie Wenner and Judy Thomas.
Nancy Cressman of Christ Luther League is chosen by the Luther League of the LCA for the 1963 Work Camp Program. She will spend two weeks in Cleveland at the Inner City Protestant Parish with 12 other youths. The program includes cleaning, painting, worship, and study across 16 centers nationwide.
