Fatal Shooting Claims Russell Brown in Ohio Home

Russell Brown, 14, died after an accidental gun discharge at the Ogg home on West Main Street. William Ogg, 18, touched the trigger while showing a .22 revolver, injuring Brown in the temple. Brown died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday after being transported by ambulance. funeral services were held Tuesday at the Lutheran church with Cadet pallbearers.

Garey High Cadets Drill At Pioneer Picnic

Cadets will drill in the field between the picnic grounds and the road as part of the afternoon program. A line of march from stage to drill grounds and back will be observed with Band Cadets Choral Club Soldiers and Sailors of All Wars and Citizens in the procession. Governor Cox and Lieut Col Ralph Cole will speak in the afternoon. A full program will be released next week.

1919 High School Commencement Held in Park Pavilion

Last Friday evening the 1919 high school class graduated at the park pavilion. The Choral Society performed as students and officials entered. Samuel W. Grathwell delivered a commencement address urging education and a new schoolhouse. Diplomas were awarded and the crowd dismissed.

Memorial Sunday G A R Services at Lutheran Church

The annual memorial services of the G A R were held at the Lutheran church with 14 veterans leading a High School Cadets detachment under Supt C M Beitler. Rev E L Spaid preached on Civil Spanish American and World War service with a patriotic sermon. The choir sang hymns and Mrs John Semler of New Lexington sang a solo. The veterans thanked the church pastor choir Beitler and the cadets for the fine service.
