Public School Seniors Honored In Year-End Chapel Exercises

The last chapel of the year honored the senior class with caps and gowns as the band played. John Jacoby Jr won a DAR prize of 325 for American History top honors, while eighteen eighth graders received State Education Certificates. Various awards went to scholarship teams, English winners, and band members.

Purina sales meeting held at M P church in Tiffin

Purina representatives attended a sales meeting at the M P church in Tiffin last Tuesday evening. District Manager George P. Boyer of Fremont chaired, noting 60 percent more Startena sales in April than the previous year. Ted Bowlus spoke on feeding dairy cows and calves.

Carey High School Holds Fiftieth Commencement Exercises

Carey high school marked its 50th graduation Tuesday evening in the school auditorium. The program featured music by the High School Orchestra and Mixed Octette, a class address by Franklin H. McNutt, presentation of diplomas by Supt. Arnholt, and awards for top scholars and activity points. Eleanor Krout named valedictorian with 93.16 percent. Elizabeth Howard salutatorian at 92.34 percent. Diplomas awarded to a long list of graduates. a banquet follows at Christ Lutheran parish house with later dancing and cards at the high school.

Infant Mary Virginia Werner dies after illness

Mrs Ella Savidge attended the funeral for Mary Virginia Werner infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Aloysius Werner of Dayton. The child born May 1 1936 died May 24 1937 after a five day pneumonia illness. Her mother is Florence Pahl of Carey.
