Carey High School to stage 72nd commencement

May 26 at 8 p.m. Carey High School will award diplomas to 57 seniors in its 72nd annual commencement. Ray Monsalvatge will deliver the address titled From Runner-up to Champion, after a program including processional Pomp and Circumstance and a baccalaureate on Sunday.

Members of the Mother Hub bards Chapter of the Greater Car rey Centennial identify by a yellow bow in hair when not in costume. They meet in members’ homes on the second and fourth Thursdays monthly. Old Glory Flag and Decorating Company Plans Carey Decor

A representative from Old Glory Flag and Decorating Company of Brazil Indiana will visit Carey to plan storefront decorations for Centennial Week. The firm will install maintain and remove displays with liability coverage. An emblem three feet square will serve as a centerpiece and be given to merchants when displays are removed.

Kiwanis Reports Centennial Stock Sales Substantial

Kiwanis chairman F D Jackson reports very favorable results from the Carey Centennial Stock sales drive to club president J F Dible. Total is expected well over 2000 with additional commitments. Wives receive praise for neighborhood efforts that boosted the campaign. A high school senior program at the meeting featured Barbara Baughman David Heck and Dennis Long speaking on belief immortality and that People Are Wonderful. Committee chair Alfred Gardner led action on the local scholarship program with a motion to allocate the club's half of funds.

Memorial Day services begin Sunday with Earl Green Post No 344 Legionnaires at First Methodist Church. Parade forms 9 a.m. Friday May 30 at Patterson and E Findlay, proceeding to Spring Grove and St Marys Cemeteries. Rev Richard L Hughes Jr to deliver address at Spring Grove at 10. Nonagenarians Celebrate Birthdays Next Week in Carey

Two longtime residents of Carey, Mrs. Clarence Game and George Ash, near 100, will mark birthdays in late May. Mrs. Game, 92, turns May 28 and lives with her husband at 126 High Street. Mr. Ash, a resident of St. Mary Avenue, will be three years short of 100 on Memorial Day May 30. Both are in good health and recall early Carey history from its incorporation about a century ago.

Vanlue Banquet Party Promises Fun for Students and Guests
