Carey City Council Adopts Bills and Discusses Water Alarm

The Carey city council met in regular session led by Mayor Mc Clure. They approved last meeting minutes and a long list of bills for payment, including street labor, coal, advertising, and utilities. Fire Chief Ilo Wonder asked to use the water works whistle at night. the request was referred to the board of public affairs. The board proposed securing funds to rebuild water lines and install pumps. engineers will estimate costs and report next meeting. The session adjourned until May 31.

Funeral of Lawrence Graham Attended by Local Men

Verne England, Harry Bakies, Earl Briggs and Burton Krum traveled to Tiffin Friday to attend the funeral of Lawrence Graham. He served with Co I 146th Infantry in France and died early after deployment from pneumonia. The government recently repatriated his body.

Bans Announced for Local Marriage at Toledo Cathedral

Mrs Samuel Culp Dies After Prolonged Illness

Mrs Emma H Landis Culp died Sunday night at 8 30 after months of bowel cancer at two miles west of town She was born July 12 1857 in Lancaster Pa and would have turned 62 She married Samuel Culp 47 years ago and they moved to this locality seven years later Five of their nine children survive with the father One son and one daughter are dead The living children are Mrs George Lashey Clarence Culp Mrs Emma Kitzmiller Arthur Culp and Earl Culp Also surviving are a sister and two brothers Mrs Anna Green Milton Landis and Reuben Lanis Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 00 from the Bigelow Methodist church with Rev J M Shimer in charge Burial was in the church cemetery Pallbearers were Lewis and Earl Criger Peter Arend George Shumar M Romig and Marion Bland.

Memorial Sunday Services Across United Brethren Church

Memorial Sunday on May 23 will feature services at the United Brethren church with Rev. J C Rinehart delivering the sermon and the church choir providing singing. Salem Falls 8 7 to Mt Blanchard In Baseball Play

Salem was defeated 8 to 7 by Mt Blanchard on Sunday at Mt Blanchard. Salem’s best catcher was out of the lineup, hurting the team. Next Sunday Salem meets Forest, a top Hardin county club, on the Salem diamond with Henige catching.
