Swan Rubber Co agrees to be acquired by Amerace for 22 million

Stockholders approve the acquisition of Swan Rubber Company by Amerace Corporation New York City for 22 220 400 in cash. Amerace will own Swan as its eighth division and retain Swan management. Swan earnings from April 8 1961 will belong to Amerace. Swan’s 1961 sales are projected around 22 700 000 with net profits near 3 500 000 before taxes. Swan is a major maker of rubber and plastic garden hose automotive hose molded tires and wheels.

Pentecost Observed At Christ Lutheran Church

Pentecost Sunday May 21 will feature the church festival Pentecost or Whit Sunday and the largest Confirmation class in 103 years. Twenty six boys and girls, instructed since September 24 1960, will be confirmed joining the church. The sermon is Giving the Holy Spirit a Chance and the adult choir will sing. A full church is expected with families attending.

Carey Jaycees represented by Mr. and Mrs. David Myers and others attended the State Jaycee convention at the Biltmore Hotel in Dayton. New officers were elected and awards given. Council Buys Truck and Approves Park Board Plans

Village council accepted Lanning Motor Sales bid of 2580 for a new 1 ton dump truck with a 1951 trade in, over competing bids from Shang's Auto Service and Stahl Motors. A 3 percent raise was approved in salary ordinance No. 551. Park board recommendations include lighted horseshoe courts, a tiny tots area near the baby pool, a new galvanized score board, more lighting, and a renovated lodge.
