Myers Named Carey JCs President At Wednesday Meeting
Myers was named president of the Carey Jaycees at a Wednesday evening gathering at the Odd Fellows Hall. Elected with him for the coming year were Charles Buckland as vice president Gene Hoopf as secretary Earl Schmitz as treasurer and Earl Doppler as director. Doyle Army Strong of Tiffin urged support in the district I race. May 21 was set as a tentative Teen Road-eo date with Schmitz as chairman. The group donated 40 to the Buckeye Boys State Fund and will sponsor a slow pitch softball team with Lawrence Mates as captain.

Dible Co wins sewer improvements bid in Carey
Carey village council awarded the sanitary sewerage collection system upgrade to J F Dible Co for 13,720 in regular session May 1. McGill and Smith engineers recommended the bid, which covered four items including lift station upgrades and new pipes. Other bids were K and P Excavating 18,316 and Hanagan Co 18,000. The project aims to prevent basement flooding west of Vance Street and eastward. The state renewed the discharge permit only to July 15 pending stabilization pond feasibility and updated treatment plans. McGill outlined pond costs and potential sites while noting ponds cannot handle grease and blood loads. Gas rates in Carey stay unchanged June through August.
