Baccalaureate Service for Carey High School Class of 1940

Rev. Paul R. Clouser will preach the baccalaureate at Christ Lutheran Church for Carey High School’s 1940 graduates on Sunday evening May 19. The upcoming week includes final exams Monday and Tuesday, with a grading day Wednesday and report distribution Thursday afternoon. A final school assembly Friday will present pupil awards as Alten Kinsinger’s entertainments and Hi Y club events precede a farewell chapel for the seniors. Eighty seven eighth graders took state tests April 26 with Mary Heck and John Schira tied for top score at 174.

Carey School Board Sets Auction For Two Buildings

The Carey board of education met in regular session Tuesday. They decided to advertise the outlying Adrian and Springville buildings for sale at public auction on Saturday July 3 1940 with details to follow in The Carey Times. Riester Son will get a three year bus contract. Roof repairs were arranged with Snyder Lumber Co for the high school and with Porter Son Toledo for Col Crawford building. Miss Mary Finley resigns after ten years teaching vocal music and English. Coal bids postponed to May 23 at a special meeting.

The senior C Y O unit premiers a three act mystery farce titled Aunt Susie Shoots the Works on Tuesday May 21 at 8 pm in the Catholic hall. The ensemble features Aunt Susie Stowe Joy Herbert Portia Lark Omar Graves and Johnny Rogers with Scarlet and Rochester among the servants for a night of laughs and twists.

Red Cross Urges Wyandot Chapter to Raise 2000 for War Relief

Monroe Girl undergoes third major operation

Miss Imelda Orians of Monroe Mich underwent a tonsillectomy on Saturday morning at Monroe hospital after three weeks of tonsillitis. Her condition was serious following the capera treatment, her third major operation to date. She is the daughter of Mrs Raymond Orians, south of Carey.
