School notes report chapel program with French classes and a playlet Les Deux Sourds. Seniors host Daddy Long Legs success, senior junior banquet planned, baccalaureate May 19 and commencement May 23. Tests upcoming, no school Thursday for grading, many Whippet car sales listed with prices.
Dr S R Bame R J D Siddall and Dr R C Van Buren will attend the 43rd annual meeting of the Ohio State Eclectic Medical Association in Lima on May 21 and 22. A visit to the Lima State hospital for the criminal insane will allow study of patient care and treatment.
The group will hold a brief business session at 8 o clock followed by a social evening. Social committee members include Mrs C D Kentfield Mrs Joe Thom Mrs William Weaver Mrs Carl Schira Mrs Charles Brown Mrs Clarence Ruffing and Misses Martha and Florence Schira.
Recent Hancock county transfers include Albert A Zopfi trustee conveying part of lot 1218 in Eva's second addition Findlay to Rose B Carlin. Charles A and Kizzie Ro Rudolph transfer part of lot 4287 in the Louthan addition to Findlay to P S Engler.

The Jennie Larmonth Missionary Society will meet Monday evening May 20 with Mrs S H Krebs and Mrs Alva Criger assisting. Mrs E S Burson and Miss Carolyn Newhard will lead the session.
Joe Silverstein has purchased the barn at the rear of the C M Steen residence on N Vance Street and will move it to the land adjoining the Carey porcelain plant recently purchased by him.
Carey High School captured first at the county track meet held Wednesday at Sycamore, finishing with 101 points. Sycamore was the only other high school to enter.
A son was born to Mr and Mrs Fred Leonhardt of Toledo at Mercy Hospital on May 6. a daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Courtad is listed from north of town. A daughter to Mr and Mrs B F Logsdon of Detroit also arrived May 6. The family now has 12 children, eight daughters and four sons, with one daughter dead. A 9 pound, one ounce daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Harry Myers, the mother formerly Miss Marie Pauly of Kirby. A 9 pound and 1 ounce daughter named Martha Jane was born last Thursday to Mr and Mrs William Buckley on E South street. An 80 pound daughter named Arline Mae was born Friday to Mr and Mrs Leonard Longanecker of Akron. Mrs Longanecker was Mildred Mann of Carey before marriage.
The carew high school typewriting class taught by Miss Maurine Rudolph met Monday and Wednesday afternoons and closed this week. It opened with 16 members and finished with 13, with students praising the free instruction and presenting a spinet desk as a token of appreciation.
The Beech Grove Ladies Aid met with Mrs William Hunter last Thursday for a pot luck dinner and quilting session. Mrs Joland Jacobs of North Street Carey will host the society in June.
The Crawford township trustees shift the meeting time for the summer period beginning Saturday May 18 and will convene at 7 30.
Roy L. Van Sant a township farmer and Leona Bright Vanlue a teacher were issued a marriage license in Findlay with Rev Archer officiating. Amanda township and Vanlue are noted as the individuals' addresses or associations.
The C K of O will host a social this Thursday evening at the C K of O hall. Members families and friends are invited. Thomas Noon, Lecturer.
A three person shoplifting gang targeted stores in Upper Sandusky and Carey last Friday. They distracted clerks while one opened the rack and others concealed dresses, furs and hats in a suitcase. Four dresses valued at about 100 dollars were taken at Kurtz dry goods in Carey before the trio fled.

The funeral of J Jo Brandt was held Friday morning at Our Lady of Consolation Church with Fr David celebrating requiem high mass. It was attended by many relatives and friends. Burial was in St Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Pleraceini, Fr Emer ine rank Willer, G Collet, A L Pahl, and John Pahl.
Porter Hendricks of Carey Mal and Elevator Co attended the Toledo event last week as part of a 22 member Sneath-Cunningham agency delegation at a Quaker Oats dealers district meeting in Tiffin. A fine dinner followed at the Hotel Perry before an enthusiastic session.
In last week’s report on Ambrose Bland’s death the donors of flowers were mislisted. The names of Mr and Mrs Joseph Gibson were omitted and F H A Hogan of Upper Sandusky served as pallbearer in place of Frank Damon.
Carey merchants unite to host a Bargain Carnival on Wednesday May 22 1929. Stores will be dressed for a festive shopping day highlighting full merchandise lines and low season prices to attract local shoppers. About 1500 extra copies of the Carey Times go to readers to advertise the event and invite the public to return for future bargains.
The senior class play at the high school auditorium Friday drew a large crowd. Juniors plan a banquet for seniors at the Lutheran church followed by a baccalaureate service there Sunday. The commencement at the Methodist church on May 23 features Frank B. Pearson delivering the class address with music by the high school orchestra and Kiwanis quartet. Diplomas will be presented by Mrs. E. C. Walker. Rev. Aloys M Fish delivers benediction. Alumni banquet at the Lutheran church Friday May 24.
Clement Butner of Holland Bread, Toledo, will hearings in probate court on a charge under a state law forbidding wholesale to retailer bread exchanges. He is out on 3500 bond. A Columbus weights and measures charge is pending. Officers say bread rolling spreads in Toledo.
Norman Scribner star tackle of Ohio Wesleyan spoke at the Kiwanis luncheon last Monday on Football and the Game of Life. Carevo high school athletes attended as guests. Scribner urged youngsters to pursue enthusiasm and effort in any venture. He plans to attend the Boston School of Theology next winter.
Miss Esther Pontius daughter of Mr and Mrs William Pontius graduated Wednesday evening in the nurses training class at Flower hospital Toledo. Attending were Mr and Mrs Pontius, Vr and Mr EBC Harshberger, and Mrs Anna Ward of Findlay.
Mrs Arch Donelson was taken to Findlay hospital by Sutter's ambulance on Monday afternoon for appendicitis and underwent surgery at 500 o'clock performed by Dr Hartman. Mrs Donelson is progressing nicely.
Virgil Green has bought 82 acres four miles north of town on Base Line road from Austin Knowlton. The transaction was brokered by the H. G Feasel agency.
The Philathea class of Memorial Evangelical Sunday School will hold a bake sale at the rest room on Saturday May 18 starting at 10 oclock. Pies cakes bread cookies and doughnuts will be offered in the event.

Mrs Harriet Lortz died at her home on S Patterson street after a period of failing health and a recent severe illness from exposure. Funeral services were held at her home with Rev Paul R Clouser officiating, burial in Spring Grove cemetery. She was born April 26, 1855, married Augustus Lortz in 1879, survived by a foster daughter, a half-sister and several nieces and nephews, and was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church.
The Carey Pioneers travel to Upper Sandusky for an indoor athletic meet at the YM building Friday May 17. Events begin at 7:30 PM and the event is a charity benefit for camping supplies.
Crawford Chapter No 168 will hold its annual inspection Friday night preceded by a 6 30 dinner at the Methodist church. Members who have not yet secured tickets for the banquet should immediately contact Mrs J D Ewing, chairman.
Junior baseball schedule shows the Pioneers tied 3 0 with the K of C s in first place while the Legionaires sit 1 2 and the Pioneers 0 3. Tonight the Pioneers face the Legion in a game delayed by rain.
Work began last Saturday to remodel the high school auditorium forcing several commencement events to be held in local churches. The project aims to modernize the space and improve seating and acoustics for upcoming ceremonies.
