Mrs Scott McKinnon returned from Columbus Grove after news of her sister Mrs John Bowers illness and death. Mrs Bowers died on April 22. Sudden death of J. J. Brandt shocks Clay Street
J. J. Brandt died of heart failure Tuesday morning at his Clay street home. Born February 2, 1872 in New Riegel, he was 56. He married Helen Dappler in 1896. no children, foster daughter Helen Elchert survives. Funeral Friday 9:30 at Our Lady of Consolation. burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Survived by siblings Anthony, Belle, Lena, and a sister. a brother George died last year. Known as a longtime local businessman active in several groups.

May Pilgrimage Ends With Crowds At Shrine
A rainy May pilgrimage to Our Lady of Consolation drew more than a thousand visitors last Thursday. St Joseph’s school children from Tiffin sang at the shrine while eighth graders laid a crown of roses on the altar. Numerous priests from Tiffin and surrounding towns led Mass and sermons. Sunday’s events saw pilgrimages from Upper Sandusky Kirby Salem and Akron among others with Franciscans assisting.

About 35 Methodist ministers attended the Delaware district conference at the local church Tuesday evening and Wednesday. Rev. Edgar Blake of Indianapolis was the bishop in attendance. Rev. H. E. Armacost of Delaware district superintendent presided. Rev. Joseph B. Shellhaas the local pastor hosted the event. A banquet and program by Ohio Wesleyan University followed Tuesday. Dr. Edmund D. Soper, president of the University, spoke on Christian Education. A university quartet and soloists provided entertainment. Wednesday featured a breakfast, toasts by several ministers, devotionals by Rev. C. W. Sultzbach, and talks on science, religion, and the Ohio Wesleyan Campaign. The afternoon held rapid-fire reports and a World Service contest among visitors. Prof. T. Marsh spoke on the preacher as a public speaker.
