Paul Van Dusen introduces a combined meter base and lighting fixture to bring underground electrical service to Carey residents. Homeowners pay about 125 dollars from lot line to termination, with 44 dollars east of town. The village purchases 12 fixtures now and plans safety fencing and a small shed at the ball field.

Wyandot County Council for Retarded Children Plans Spring Program
On April 28 officers held a meeting at the school. The spring program is set for May 19 at 1 PM for parents and friends. Ruby Kuenzig invited the council to a June picnic where new officers will be installed. The school received a film projector from the Wyandot County Federation of CCL with Carey Jaycees and Jaycee Ettes buying new drapes for the projector room. Four members will attend the OARC Convention in Toledo May 22. The school closes May 24.

Village worker injured by falling curb fracture
Clyde Zender, 49, a member of the village street crew, fractured his leg Tuesday afternoon when a curb piece broke off Lake Street and fell into a sewer ditch. He was taken for X rays, admitted to Blanchard Valley Hospital, and casted. He will be confined for several days and cannot work for weeks.

Holton G Whitaker Dies After Carey Collision
Holton G Whitaker 80 of 212 N Lake Street died from injuries after a semi struck his 1957 Ford near the Carey Post Office. The Tuesday afternoon crash happened when he failed to stop at a sign and was hit by a southbound truck. He had worked at National Lime and Stone Co and is survived by a daughter, granddaughter, two great grandchildren, and two sisters. Funeral services are planned at the Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Spring Grove Cemetery.
