Funeral services for August Pethe held at two churches
Requiem High Masses were conducted at Our Lady of Consolation Church and St Nicolas Church Frenchtown for August Pethe who died of heart failure. Pallbearers included Michael Jacoby and Henry Pahl. Burial followed at Frenchtown Cemetery. Attendees traveled from several towns. Pethe aged 75, born an orphan at eleven, came to the U.S. with Gust Fosty and Frank Jacobs after arriving September 7, 1859. He later worked for Hiram Starr, married in 1860, and built a respected farming life.

W L Lindsay and wife and their son Roger and James Carroll from Portsmouth move to Carey to reside in the Kimmel property on Dow street. Lindsay will join Henry & Co. in the grocery business with his brother in law D C Henry. Fred Lytle continues delivering, and Clarence Hagely shifts to caring for nine acres of onions planted by the firm.

Death of Hancock County philanthropist Lewis Dukes
Lewis Dukes of Hancock County died at his Findlay home last Saturday morning. Born November 30, 1827 in Franklin County, he moved to Blanchard township at age one and spent most of his life on a local farm. He moved to Findlay in 1903 and was noted for generous gifts to public institutions, including $30,000 to Ohio Northern University where Dukes Memorial Hall honors him, plus donations to Ohio Wesleyan University at Delaware and the Methodist Resort at Lakeside.

Death in Forest as Mrs. George Martin Succumbs After Long Illness
Mrs. Margaret Ellen Gemmill Martin dies at her South Street home after years of poor health and a six week bedstead illness. Born January 12 1860 in York County Pennsylvania she married George Martin March 21 1878 and leaves seven children plus six Gemmill brothers and one sister. Funeral services were at the home with Rev. Curl. remains sent to Forest for burial in Huston cemetery as a male quartet sang. floral offerings noted. Also noted is the death of John Russell Dill aged one year from pneumonia and brain congestion with services by Rev. Moore. Spring Grove cemetery interment and community condolences.

A flood of exaggerated cyclone yarns circulates among newspaper men in the west. One account claims a storm turned a well inside out and cellar upside down while moving a town ship line and blowing the staves from a whiskey barrel.
Parochial sisters make pilgrimage to Our Lady shrine
On Thursday afternoon two Sisters in charge of the Upper Sandusky parochial school traveled with Mother Mechtildis of New Jersey and her attendant to the shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. The Mother Superior was on her annual visit to Upper Sandusky.
