Public School News From Carey Schools Band Postponed

The Carey Schools band concert, set for Friday May 6, is rescheduled to Tuesday May 10 at 8 PM. Bandmasters praised the festival performance, and the concert next week is free with public invitation.

In Friday action Loudonville defeated Carey 5 to 4 in 14 innings as Carter scored the winning run after Derr sacrificed to second and Nouse singled. Strahm fanned 24 and Shrimplin 16. Postgame festivities included a Carey potluck, dance, and movies.

Philharmonic to Present Fourth Annual Concert

In honor of National Music Week the Carey Philharmonic Society plans an 8:15 p.m. program at the Methodist church. Director Mrs. George Denman leads a varied set featuring Bach Gounod Morley Reichardt and Chopin with soloists Miss Marjorie Kramer Mrs. Paul Powell and Mrs. C. G. Laird. A silver offering will help cover expenses and flowers are provided by Carey Greenhouses.

Funeral for Mr and Mrs Homer T Myers in Marion

Tuesday services held at Calvary Evangelical church Marion for Mr and Mrs Homer T Myers murdered Saturday night by a farm hand who owed them money. Myers, a breeder of blooded stock, had stock dealings with the Walter family who attended and had previously visited his home. burial followed in Marion cemetery.

Fraudulent checks lead to Wanlind arrest in Carey

A 39 year old man using the name Lawrence Wanlind of Mr Vernon was arrested for issuing fraudulent checks. He cashed 5.95 at Schira’s restaurant and 210 purchase at A P store with签 signed W R Weaver. He was bound over to the grand jury on a 500 bond after pleading guilty.

Carey Community Chest holds annual meeting in library

The Carey Community Chest met Friday night April 29 at the Carey public library with strong turnout and reports from beneficiary organizations. Rev Cyprian Terwoord noted the 25th anniversary of the Chest movement while awards were read honoring the first president Rev Paul R Clouser and first secretary treasurer Mrs Elizabeth Bland. New executive board members John S Fox S W McChesney and Mrs C B Myers were elected, with a May 12 organization meeting planned. retiring members were H L Wenner Mrs H L Pahl and William Pontius.

Krupp visit links to Nevada museum dig near Boulder Dam

Mrs C J Krupp of Toledo spent last Saturday visiting relatives here on her way from Columbus. Her son William J Krupp heads a Nevada museum near Boulder Dam where excavations uncovered numerous Indian relics and skeletons. The finds suggest a Pueblo or Navaho town once stood there and work continues to establish a local museum for the artifacts.

Rev. Marlon E. Tinsler returns from a ten day study tour of American problems in New York City and Washington DC with educators authors and ministers led by Sherwood Eddy.
