Death of Clifton Vaughn Reported After Auto Crash

Vaughn family relatives from east of town and Worrello street returned from Shawnee Oklahoma where they were summoned by the illness and death of Clifton Vaughn of Drumright Oklahoma. He died Thursday morning from injuries sustained in an automobile accident six weeks earlier. He would have been 41 in August. Funeral and burial were held at Shawnee Saturday morning.

Pilgrimage Ends After Solemn Closing Services

A large Sunday crowd attended the closing services of the spring pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. Notables included Rev Wencesslaus Ardas of Indianapolis and Rev Ambrose Finnegan of Angola with others assisting in the day’s rites. Fr Ardas celebrated high mass and Fr Forrer led the afternoon service as a solemn procession with the miraculous image concluded the novena.

Carey boy to be ordained by Albany bishop

Rev Martin Collet son of Nicholas Collet north of Carey will be ordained May 21 by Rt Rev Edmund F. Gibbons at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Albany. He will celebrate his first mass May 22 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Church. Rev Collet is a member of the Order of Friars Minor.

Mrs. Anna May Augustine of Carey died after a several months illness at Toledo Hospital at 11 o clock Sunday morning She was born May 16 1868 in Columbus Grove and was 63 years old She married William Augustine September 15 1891 and they lived in Carey Until death Two sons and a daughter died in infancy She leaves two brothers Curtis Sheets of Lima and Stanley Sheets of Toledo Funeral services were held at the Augustine home Findlay Street and burial was in Columbus Grove Attending out of town relatives came from Lima Toledo Columbus Grove Findlay and Upper Sandusky

Knights of Ohio visit shrine for Mother's Day pilgrimage

A special Big Four train will bring several hundred Catholic Knights from Cincinnati and Hamilton County to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation for an annual Mother’s Day pilgrimage. Knights from across the state have been invited for a 2:00 p.m. procession and church services followed by planting a cherry tree in honor of George Washington.
