The Frostman fodds class hosts a chapel program for upper classes with readings, songs, and piano duets. Caryatids distribution and high grading in geography and spelling dictation are noted, naming top pupils across grades 3 to 6 in Colonel Crawford.
Mothers lead the service at 8:00 pm next Sunday at Memorial Evangelical Church with a program including Prelude Orvetta Wentling Congregational song scripture reading and a pageant An Uncrowned Queen The cast features Motherhood Mrs Roy Johnson Mother's Day Mrs Jack Leasure and many others in roles as spirits witnesses guards and participants.
Vaughn family relatives from east of town and Worrello street returned from Shawnee Oklahoma where they were summoned by the illness and death of Clifton Vaughn of Drumright Oklahoma. He died Thursday morning from injuries sustained in an automobile accident six weeks earlier. He would have been 41 in August. Funeral and burial were held at Shawnee Saturday morning.
Notice to Rebekah. The regular meeting of the Rebekah lodge will be held Tuesday evening of next week May 10.
A Tuesday night program featured vocal, violin, guitar, piano and accordion performances enjoyed by a large crowd. Commander Shafer conducted the event, praised for handling the program smoothly, with strong comradery evident throughout the evening.

A large Sunday crowd attended the closing services of the spring pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. Notables included Rev Wencesslaus Ardas of Indianapolis and Rev Ambrose Finnegan of Angola with others assisting in the day’s rites. Fr Ardas celebrated high mass and Fr Forrer led the afternoon service as a solemn procession with the miraculous image concluded the novena.
Edward Riester, a longtime Carey resident and extensive landowner, appears on the Democratic ballot seeking the county commissioner post. The notice urges Carey voters to support Riester as a representative with local interests at heart.
Fordyce Ogg a hog salesman at the Central Stock Yards in Columbus and son of Mrs Della Ogg is identified by many Carey friends for his market reports over WAIU. Markets are announced daily at 9 59 and 11 50 am.
Mrs Cora Dilley of Salem Township and her daughter Mrs RC Altvater have purchased the Altvater house on FE Findlay street occupied by J A Walker and family. Mr and Mrs Altvater and Mrs Dilley plan to move there Monday. The Walker family will move to the RC Altvater property on Patterson street.
A 10 cent birthday social will be held at the Pythian hall Thursday evening right after the Pythian Sisters meeting. Everyone is invited to attend.
Carey led Donelson's Semi-Pros to a 4 to 3 victory over Bucyrus at press SOBEY field on Sunday. Yonikus hit two triples and Sharrock added a homer as Bucyrus rallied in the final frame but fell short. Ferner pitched nine for Bucyrus, Parsel went nine for Donelson, and the crowd saw strong fielding, including a key double play Rex Donelson to Pahl to D Orians.
The Fire Brigade benefit play is currently in nightly rehearsal to complete the local cast. Capt Harry Nel Long of New York City directs and manages the production with plans for a future performance in the high school auditorium. Further details and date to be announced.
Rev Paul Ro Cleuser of Christ Lutheran church chooses to remain in Carew, turning down the unanimous call from First Lutheran church in Findlay.
Carey high school will host a public exhibit by clothing and manual training classes on May 11 and 12 from 3 10 to 9 00 p m. The event invites community members to view student projects and activities.
C A Radford publicity manager of the CCC and St L railroad will address the Crawford Ridge farm bureau gathering at Moosehall on Wednesday May 11 at 8 00 p m. The open meeting invites all farmers to discuss taxation and transportation issues affecting rural Ohio and rail service and highway funding.

Rev Martin Collet son of Nicholas Collet north of Carey will be ordained May 21 by Rt Rev Edmund F. Gibbons at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Albany. He will celebrate his first mass May 22 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Church. Rev Collet is a member of the Order of Friars Minor.
Rev E P Paulin pastor of Memorial Evangelical church attended the funeral services for Mrs W H Buck wife of the former Messenger editor in Ashland on Wednesday. Paulin led the conference chorus of pastors who sang several selections.

Mrs. Anna May Augustine of Carey died after a several months illness at Toledo Hospital at 11 o clock Sunday morning She was born May 16 1868 in Columbus Grove and was 63 years old She married William Augustine September 15 1891 and they lived in Carey Until death Two sons and a daughter died in infancy She leaves two brothers Curtis Sheets of Lima and Stanley Sheets of Toledo Funeral services were held at the Augustine home Findlay Street and burial was in Columbus Grove Attending out of town relatives came from Lima Toledo Columbus Grove Findlay and Upper Sandusky

Mrs Minnie Davidson who ran a grocery in Columbus Grove has taken over the underground River Cave west of Carey in an exchange with Dr Sink of Columbus Grove, former owner of the cave.
The May committee of the Women of the Moose plans a Tuesday evening beano party and dance with light refreshments and music. All are invited to attend.
Lasher proprietor of the 4rex Ante Top Shop is gravely ill with scarlet fever at the hospital. He was taken in last week and remains very ill under medical care.
Trustees resume summer schedule meeting on Saturdays in the evening instead of afternoons. The change applies to Crawford Township and affects upcoming sessions.

Busy Carey observes its annual clean-up week May 10 to May 14 with wagons on W Findlay street early Tuesday forenoon. The village council offers free trash collection to residents as long as items are curbside when wagons arrive. Do not use paper cartons or loose open barrels. no ashes or brush.

A special Big Four train will bring several hundred Catholic Knights from Cincinnati and Hamilton County to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation for an annual Mother’s Day pilgrimage. Knights from across the state have been invited for a 2:00 p.m. procession and church services followed by planting a cherry tree in honor of George Washington.
