Apron String Revolt to Be Performed by School Cast

The senior play titled Apron string Revolt will be presented Friday May 4 in the evening at 8 o clock by a capable cast directed by Miss Helen Smith. Assembly Monday featured Mr Mulholland leading devotions and a regular school radio program broadcast Wednesday afternoon with the Audubon Society in charge. Nevada defeated Carey 3 0 in a Swan Rutber field baseball game while Mr Driver resigns after seven years as Carey Public Schools superintendent.

Sgt Max Silverstein recounted his World War II Africa service in the EB I Guettar campaign with a tank destroyer unit before transferring to the quartermaster corps. He described the country and people, noting Morocco and Algeria had higher flying standards than the U S. Supt Earl B Driver spoke on his plans for the future and his work in Washington Township schools near Thedo, where he recently became superintendent.

Washington township Lucas County selects Earl B Driver for a two year term as superintendent. He has led the district for seven years and will relocate with his family at the end of July. His contract begins August 1. The district includes seven buildings led by Whitmer High with over 4,000 pupils and about 5 teachers. He succeeds A N Thurston who retires.

Victor Reynolds son of Mr and Mrs Reynolds of Fostoria and brother of Mrs Cyril Brown of Carey is a patient in Veteran's Administration hospital King’s Bridge Board Bronx NY under guimg throat treatments. He has been a senior inspector in the government airport at Newark for the past year. He was discharged from the army air corps 18 months ago after four months treatment at Walter Reed hospital Washington DC.

Signal man Charles L. Kessler aids 6th Army Group

Pfe. Charles L. Kessler, son of Mr and Mrs Charles Kessler of Carey Ohio, serves with the 495th signal heavy construction company in Germany. The unit maintains continuous communications between Gen Devers headquarters and the American 7th and French 1st armies. Over 20 months overseas, many carry five battle stars on their European Theater ribbons.

Haford Family Reunion and Moves to Dodge City

Leaver and his son in law and daughter Mrs Blan ford Brothers returned to Dodge City Kansas for the week end. Mr Haford spent two weeks with his mother Mrs Josephine Haferd of Carey and relatives at Kansas and Akron Sg. and Mrs Brothers visited the sergeant's parents in Hudson New York. Haford runs a yard selling new and used pipe and Wilson in law teaches at Judge City air field. Russell Thom, a former Carey resident, works as a welder at the air field with his wife and two children enjoying their new home. It is 194g years since Haford last visited Carey, his boyhood home.

Blood Donor Unit Visits Upper Sandusky in May

Navy Seaman Victor Dunn Survives Sinking of Destroyer

A War Department letter to Mr and Mrs Ernest Dunn reports their son Victor Dunn a U S Navy member says the destroyer he served on was sunk in the Pacific on April 6 by dive bombers. He spent eight hours in the sea before rescue by a rocket ship and is believed en route home on survivor leave.

Posthumous Purple Heart Award for Pvt Clarence Tong

Mrs. Hobart Tong of West Street received the Purple Heart posthumously for her son Pvt Clarence E Tong who was killed in action in Germany on February 25. A War Department notice signed by Secretary Henry L Stimson states the medal will be sent with deep sympathy and gratitude for his gallantry and devotion.

Moose Teal Triumph Over Seminary. Player Fractures Leg

The Moose team defeated Our Lady of Carey Seminary 5 to 4 on the students' field. Friar Eugene Hanley fractured his left leg going into third base and was taken to Findlay hospital. Another game between the teams is set for Sunday at 6 30.

PFC Dean Clady and four AT men of the 354th Infantry Regiment earned praise as they laid wire across the Rhine during the crossing with the 89th Division. Woman's Society of Christian Service Holds Mid Year Conference

The Ohio conference North Central jurisdiction meeting of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church met at St Pauls Tulcao with Carey attendees Mrs Harry Mapes president and delegate Mrs L E Offenbacher vice president and Mrs L L Bland district secretary. Two Teachers Resign Positions in Carew Schools

Seek Improvements at Courthouse in Upper Sandusky

Wyandot county commissioners ask Judge Kerr to transfer 25000 from the bond retirement fund to the general fund to redecorate the courthouse and install an elevator. The elevator would service the law library and county health offices currently housed outside the courthouse. Rental for the current health offices is 25 dollars per month.

Operation for Appendicitis

Miss Arahell Englard, daughter of Mr and Mrs Tivide Teeland of near Sycamore, underwent an emergency appendicitis operation Friday at Mercy Hospital, Tiffin. Her condition was described as quite serious after the operation.
